Couple items are failing. Seals (water) snd the clutch, or belt drive cogs (squeels)
You can look in the back to see if its leaking from the hoseb hooefully that part is easy. But it sounds like the problem is inside the machine.

"If you dont have a noisy spin cycle and the noise you hear is only on the rince cycle, dont be worried, as this is totally normal. Water sprays onto the drum while the spin cycle is in progress and rewets the clothes to allow any existing soap to be desolved. This noise is in effect the water hitting the drum during the rince part of the cycle.

Mine had the same problem! Turned out to be the transmision going bad. My machine is only three years old. Transmision cost over $250 Not worth fixing. The inside of this machine is very poor quality. I am very disapointed. Maytag not the quality it once was. I WILL NEVER WASTE MY MONEY ON A MAYTAG PRODUCT AGAIN

I had a squirrel(?) stuck in mine! I removed the lint pipe and it was really nasty. Something had chewed through the screen and climbed down the pipe to stay warm?? We live in Minnesota and it was cold as heck. Anyway, Have a shop vac ready, I hope this helps. Remove pipe at the dryer, push start a couple of times and see if anything blows out. K.J.

Try Googling " user manual for Maytag Ensignia MDE4658AYW ". You may have to go to the Maytag web site and ask for manual. Sometimes I've had to ask for repair manual instead of user manual. Good luck.

try spraying wd 40 on the motor ends to see if it will stop if not try the rollers normally they go bad and make the belt squeel.

The bearings on Maytag Ensignia's are part of the seals that keep the water in. Once you start hearing the bearings begining to go, you likely will have a leak following shortly thereafter as the bearing greased is washed out by your laundry soap. Up front. This is a procedure that requires specialty tools and takes me about 45-60 minutes to complete. The easiest way to tackel this job is to take your model number (just on the back side of the console) and take it to a local appliance parts store. Ask them for a tub seal kit. (I can't give you a part number since there is no model number listed) but they should be able to pull it up for you. When they bring it up to the front, inside the seal kit is not only step-by-step directions, but also the part numbers for the specialized tools required as well. may be blocked outlet pipe or depending on the model a noisy drive belt, check for blockage if belt do not worry. Regards engineer
