Maybe the earphone plug on the MAC is not functional ...so try the one in the back ...the one for the speakers....if it is still not working ...just use a separate cable for the audio cause in this case the cable is not ok ...and just use a cable that has a 3.5 jack on one end to get signal from the audio output (no important is from headphones or the rear output) ..and in the other end to have a RCA plug just like the one fro audio ..
Here is an example for what kinda cable you need...(if you have some old cables you can make one by attaching a Jack 3.5 to an old RCA cable ..
http://www.amazon.co.uk/Belkin-3-5mm-Jack-Cable-White/dp/B0002AFT7M

Only that if you have only one RCA input on tv ..you only need a mono rca ..

When I hook up my LG plasma to PS3 and Cable box, I don't get any sound or colour on the PS3. The TV /cable box works fine. Any ideas on the wiring?

What type of connections are you using? HDMI? Component? Composite? What audio? HDMI? Optical Digital? Analog audio?

Are you saying you get video from the PS3, but it is in Black&White only? Is there an NTSC/PAL selector on the PS3? If so, it may be set wrong. Set to NTSC if you're in the United States.

Would appreciate any advice on connecting cable etc. to connect my Compter and TV to display video/film downloads.s

The easiest connection is converting to VGA and using a standard headphone port-to-audio in. Your video out from the laptop varies by model, which isn't included here.

It will most likely be mini-VGA or mini-DVI

I have an LG TV with an LG HOME CINEMA SYSTEM problem is: watch dvd/blue ray - video fine sound fine (through speakers) watch tv / sky -- video fine sound None throughspeakers on...

Hello,
There are two things that I can suggest.
1-Test your optical cables to make sure they a good on a known working source because they are very fragile and break very easily.
2-Try to eliminate the use of optical output from tv to receiver. There may be a problem from the HDMI to optical conversion at the tv. Instead, try running the audio directly from the source to the receiver, and let the tv deal with video input only.
Hope this helps,
Good Luck.

Trying to connect vcr/dvd to tv. Do not have

you need to have your basic rca cables (yellow, red and white). The cables you are referring to are composite cables and if you do not have component inputs on your tv they will be useless. You can use rca cables on any tv that has video.

Dont know how to connect dvd player and digital set top box to the same tv. set top working, dvd player not showing visuals on tv

Connecting this up will be easy. What you do is get a yourself a set of the right, for your setup, cables. That uses EITHER one of the formats, of these described, below. You will need, either, a THREE way Cable, or three separate " Coaxial Cored" Cables with RCA PLUGS on them. ColoredYellow, (Video) Red, & White. (Audio) AV. OR If you have SCARTConnection Sockets, it's a big Black Socket at rear of unit(s), you get aSCART Cable.& It's all inside. Now some units, use a standard calledComponent Video, that uses, a Green, Red, & Blue Plugs. Now, with the Component setup, you will also ,need, Two more Cables, for the AV Audio. these are, Red & White.(So with Component Video there are 5 Cables/Plugs in all). In any event ALL Cables go Color to Color, at each end, plugging into the corresponding Colored RCA Jacks, on either machine, or VCR or TV. Now if you have SCART, then it simply plugs in only one way. It is that simple. So connect up with the leads your set uses, and select the correct "Input" from TV/Remote, it is NOT on a "Channel" it will be on AV, AUX, and Press "Play" on VCR/DVD whatever.... should be all go.

Connecting laptop to lcd

You may need to use the S-video cable for video. Make sure video mirroring is disabled on the powerbook. Also, make the external monitor the primary display by dragging the menu bar to it in Displays preferences (Mac OS X) or the Monitors control panel (Mac OS 8 and 9).
