Your drain line is too low or has a blocked air gap. Take the drain line out of the drain. Hold it up high and turn the washer on to fill. If it fills and begins agitation,repair the drain line problem.

If the machine tries to spin for a few seconds and shuts down because the tub is full of water, then - The first thing I would do is check the pump. You may have something blocking the pump or the pump could have failed. Newer models built within the last 10 - 15 years must drain their water down first before they are able to spin.

Unplug the machine for at least 15 minutes to forcibly reset the control and eliminate the possibility of an electronic glitch. Check the Start button for possible broken key. Press the START button repeatedly and compare it with the STOP and Clothes Care Cycle buttons. The keys are similar and must feel and click the same when pressed. You should feel a significant difference when a key is broken. Replacing the control board is the only viable solution if no issue is found with the key.
