That is a problem I see, but to put it precisely the display says "Needs Repair 1" and ceases to do anything else, correct? If so, that problem stems from a few different defects but unfortunately a reset or replacing the battery won't do it so you would need to send it in for repair. Yes it can be fixed though I have seen some that had been damaged physically or from moisture that increased the costs of repair, but its normally cheaper to go the repair route. If your defective phone is too inconvenient to do without as it travels back and forth to repair then you may consider buying a kx-t7885 and then send yours in for repair to have as a backup. Refurbished is available, but since they have not made these phones for years, new is normally not an option. However, an anomaly has transpired recently and we just got in a batch of brand new units that have never been touched, let alone used. Nevertheless, you do have some options and you can go to google and search for > panasonic cordless telephone repair 1988 < to find a place to send it in, just look in the regular search results(not sponsored), you'll find us there. If you need more assistance, just chime back in. Hope that solves your problem.
