Hi, I have my printer connected using a print server. Printing works fine. Scan to PC or FAX through PC doesnt. printer: Samsung CLX-3170 print server: TL-WPS510U Can somebody help me out? I suppose that a print server allows the comunication from PC to printer, but the printer does not recognize the communication channel through the print server. Regards Louis

If you can't scan then it sounds as if your computer doesn't have the appropriate driver installed for scanning. There are a lot of drivers and other downloads here:
Printers
including a scanner driver for MAC OS 10.3 to 10.7. Since Yosemite is 10.10, I don't know if this would work for you, but I think it your most promising solution.
It may be worth disconnecting the printer and connecting it directly to the computer. If it scans and prints when directly connected then it is likely that the print server is causing the problem and if as you say there is no Mac software for it you may be in a no-win situation. The fact that you can print through it however does mean there is hope, because I have found this page which is described as manual installation of the server on Mac OS here

but the OS is 10.6.4 so, I'm not sure.

if yes clean the scan unit of the fax scanner, if it still does not improve change the scan unit of the fax unit.

Hello my friend, regarding on your problem kindly check your system particularly your windows 2008 server OS. Kind reinstall the printer drivers then then shared it. Then after you share the printers kindly check the ip address of your windows server 2008 OS then go to the workstation Computer then click start button found in your task bar manager then click run. Then kindly type the "\\IP of your windows server 2008" where your printer drivers installed then enter. As soon as you can log in the Windows server 2008 menu environment then if you can find or see the printer icon then click the printers icon then right click then click connect. Let the system automatically installed the printer driver to your workstation computer. then as soon as your system finished installed the printer drivers then try to run and print if you can now print using network LAN.

This unit does NOT officially support Samsung printers... but it will allow printing with some. It does NOT support multi-function printers features like scanning for any brand of multi-function printers.

hook the print server directly to the computer and program it with a static IP address.
than create a new printer port in add printer. Than setup the printer and use the port you just created and it will work fine

I guess the printer works fine when printing from pc. In this case plz read the manual. It explains the settings for the fax connection. You might have chosen a wrong fax setting. manual can be downloaded here:

In case the printer doesnt print anything (even no document) from pc or doesnt do copies) it could be that your printhead is clogged.
