Acer Aspire One Netbook 8.9" Notebook Logo
Anonymous Posted on Oct 22, 2010

My Acer One Netbook is about a year old. Yesterday is starting with this problem.... screen comes up saying F2 to set up or F12 to change boot process.... but then continues to boot up correctly, goes through the process, Windows icon comes up and my desktop comes up, and then the power goes off about 2 seconds later. I've done this several times today, and it always shuts down a couple seconds after my screen background picture comes up. Makes the slightest little hissing sound just before it shuts off, so I don't think it's the hard drive, software, or a virus. I'm thinking more of a capacitor or resister?

What is boot order on acer laptop

Enter your BIOS and look under Boot, Boot Sequence, or Boot Settings. You can see the BIOS entry key when your computer boots. Typically, its F2 or the delete key as soon as you see the title screen. You can change the sequence as needed. You can also do a one time boot if it is enabled. That key may be F10 or F12.

switch it on then press the key that takes it in to the BIOS or SETUP it will tell you on the start up screen, Should be "F2" when your in the bios use the arrow keys to move through the options.
More across to exit and press enter then go down to set/get or load system defaults press enter again then save & exit & the system will re-boot.
if it dosn't boot then do the same again but this time press the boot menu option on start up "F12" or "F8" i think, i should give you a list from the list select the hard drive & hit enter.

I have an Acer Aspire One notebook. I cant seem to start it. I turn it on and this displays : Check cable connection..! PXE-E63 : Error while initializing the NIC PXE-M0F : Exiting Intel PXE ROM. No...

It happens when no boot device is selected, the default is network boot first, you must select CDROM/DVDROM or HD as your first startup device. boot up machine and enter bios setup think its F2 key to enter bios generally it del or f1 or f2 it may say onscreen at start if f2 doesnt work
in the bios set boot order to HD as firstboot option then save and exit
hope this helps
dont know if all acers do this but also if you press f12 on boot up it gives you current boot options select HD that way is current boot and would have to be done everytime

Acer Aspire One - blue screen only when try to boot

You may have to remove and reset the HDD and Memory on the unit.
Next, you will recv. the F-2 to continue or F-12 to enter setup.
Enter setup and change date and time.
Save and try.
You may have a damaged HD or boot partition and reloading the operating system will be necessary.

Reseating the HD will assure that you have a good connection and the same with the memory.

Also, if the unit has been dropped, you may have a damaged HD and may need to change it.
