The screen of my SONY KDL-52BR2 is flickering ? What is the problem? Do I need a new bulb? What model bulb ?

I am sorry that, this SONY model uses a Samsung or a Chi Mei display LED panel, the problem is a defective data buffer on the flex cable between the buffer board & the LCD panel.

It can't be repaired, you must to replace it & it causes more then purchase a new TV.

Check and replace damaged component/s at its back-light inverter board, or replace this board as card basis. If you wish to get some details; check the site linked here. Surf the site with patience. Pull up older posts. It will be best to replace the inverter board as card basis.

To some model sets; especially LED back-lighted types; the back-light inverter circuit will be part of the main power supply board [SMPS]. In such cases, the power supply board might need replacement. To some models sets, the back-light inverter and SMPS section circuit will be integrated at its main board itself. If so; the main board should be replaced. To some models of sets, all these section circuit will be integrated at its main board. If this is the case, you have to replace the main board.

I like your Sony TV is defective that it cannot be fix again, better call the Customer Support to replace your Sony TV.

The primary cause of LCD TV and monitor failure is caused by faulty capacitors. You can examine the capacitors in your LCD TV or monitor and actually see if they are bad.
If they appear bulged on top, then they need to be replaced.
New capacitors will solve a host of problems in LCD monitors and TV's and will extend the life of your monitor or TV by several years.
Check the cables, connectors and connections.
Take it to a repair shop.

LCD sets often use two boards (some combine both into one board) that drive each side of the screen---different names for different brands like Inverters--also set here may use a backlight but usually it affects whole screen if not working.

Problem will usually get worse so maybe time to take it in now for repair and not allow it to damage parts that are good right now.

U might need a new bulb.

Two models of the 46 inch Sony Bravia have a screen flicker problem. On my 2008 model, starting from cold, it lasts for 5-10 min, on LHS of screen. The Telefix tech who visited said this is common with these models (46in only), a new panel is needed. Sony provides warranty on this fault for 3 yrs, so you do not need extended warranty to claim. Discuss your case with Sony or Telefix.

check your signal in put connection for a dry joints.
