Everytime I start to sew the bobbin case gets moved out of place and E6 shows up on the display. This doesnt happen when there is no thread in it or when I manually turn the needle, just when I use the pedal, it happens within 3 seconds. Is there any way to tighten the spring so it will keep it in place?
I was having the same problem with my machine and finally the spring broke. I couldn't find any parts for this so my husband made me a new spring out of a coke can! LOL!! Anyway, he messed with it for a while and it kept doing it. He figured out that it was not the spring but the other piece under the spring was not pushed up far enough to keep the bobbin case in place so he took a screw driver and pushed it forward toward the bobbin case and now my bobbin case does not move!! And the machine is sewing perfect! At least for now. Anyway, it's not the spring or the thread adjusting screw!
I've had the same problem; worked with it, replaced the bobbin case, broke needle after needle! Best solution, get a new sewing machine, preferably not a Brothers.
It is a pretty simple fix.
1 - Remove the cover and needle plate as show in your instruction book under "Cleaning the race"
2 - Make sure the bobbin case is inserted correctly as show in the "Cleaning the race" diagram.
3 - Gently rotate and hold the bobbin case against the flat spring in the diagram. (The spring on the bracket stops the bobbin case from spinning while sewing).
4 - Loosen the Phillips screw and move the bracket towards the back of the machine until the spring is 1.9 - 2.1 mm back from the tip of the projection on the bobbin case.
5 - Tighten, but don't over tighten the phillips screw, reassemble the parts and try sewing by turning the machine by hand (not by motor).
When bobbin is in place, pull the end of the thread.
You must feel some resistance.
If you don't, make sure that there is no lint cought under the bobbin case spring.
If it's clean, then turn the thread adjusting screw (for the bobbin),
until you feel some resistance.
I teach sewing and bought 3 of the Brother CS6000i..... BIG mistake. All three are sitting under the table with "fix me" signs on them. All three broke because of this reason...bobbin case keeps moving out of place. I tried to move the piece near the spring too with a screwdriver and it worked for a little while but then didn't again and broke many needles. I agree...don't buy the machine! I currently have 13 machines in my school. All of my CS6000i are broke!

my bobbin case moves everytime i try to sew either with the foot or manually. i even bought a new race thinking this would solve it. i have cleaned every bit of lint out of it and tried to adjust the tension to no avail. I am at my whits end. i do not have a brother repair center in my immedate area so i am hoping to solve this myself.
I am having the same problem. I am at my wits end. I got the machine and I am really diappointed in it. Had a brothers for years and had no problem with it. I get tis one and I feel like blowing it up. Will never buy another brothers machine.
