Ink system failure

I have an HP Photosmart 8250 and I recently had to change the yellow ink cartridge. Well, ever since then, I get the message "Ink System Failure, refer to printer documentation". ERROR 0xc18a0001. Then it tells me to turn the printer off and on .. but it still doesn't work. My HP 8250 has been working like a charm for several years. It was time to change the black ink cartridge, but before I did so, I tried to print one more pic. That's when I got the error message "0xc18a0001" and have not been able to get rid of it by following directions in manual, turning machine off, unplugging, checking settings and preferences in Control Panel. Maybe if I uninstall and re-install the software, that might help. Has anyone gotten this thing to work properly again?

HP 8250 Photosmart printer that displays "system ink failure"

Try changing the ink cartridges.

If you installed the "HP Support Toolkit" software from the CD-ROM that came with the printer, use this Toolkit to "run a cleaning cycle".
It can print a "test" page, to show you which colours _do_ work, and which do _not_ work.

If all else fails, then find a qualified printer technician.

Ink system failure. How do I reset a hp 8250 printer?

Turn off the machine using the power button, unplug the power cord from the back of the machine, remove the ink cartridges, wait 2 min, plug the power cord back in, press the power button to turn on the printer, wait for the printer to prompt that the ink cartridges are missing, then replace the ink cartridges. If this doesn't clear the error you may need to re-prime the ink cartridges. There is a good explanation of how to do this at http://www.ccl-la.com/blog/index.php/hp-photosmart-ink-system-failure-1/.
