Without further information as to the exact symptoms, it is important to point out that UPSs are only meant to function for a short amount of time (between 3 and 30 minutes, depending on model). The UPS will simply run out of battery power after that time. If the UPS has a computer interface, it may instruct the server to shut down when primary power is lost to prevent data destruction.

If the UPS does not function even briefly during a power outage, the batteries have liken gone dead and either they or the entire unit will need to be replaced. Another possibility is that you do not have a UPS at all, but a surge protector or other device that does not supply power at all.

In order to change the boot drive you have to change the boot settings in BIOS, or sometimes you can get a separate boot menu which allows you to change this setting on a one-off basis. During the boot sequence you need to press the "F12" button during the POST testing to bring up the boot menu if one is available, otherwise you need to press the "Del" or "F2" button during the POST process to bring up the Bios screens. Navigate to the BOOT option and alter the boot sequence, save the settings, exit BIOS and reboot.

Server Randomly Reboots

First, go to Dell's website and update all the firmware and install the latest version of Dell Server Administrator. DSA has logs information not logged by Windows. Next, take it outside and blast the fans with compressed air, make sure all components and cables are properly seated in their slots/sockets, turn it on with the cover off and make sure all the fans are spinning. Many servers will increase the fan speed if they detect the cover is off so this is another possible cause to the problem.
Finally, Dell servers have lifetime support, this number should work: (800) 945-3355
Good luck!
BTW: A temporary workaround might be to use a network controlled outlet that you can remotely turn off and on. Your UPS might be able to turn outlets on and off or you could get a stand alone network controlled outlet. Some can actually ping the device and turn power off and on again if it stops replying to pings. (E.g. IP Power EV-9255 IP http://www.newegg.com/Product/Product.aspx?Item=9SIA1470N64280)

Boot Problem in my ASUS Eee PC 900 netbook

First - re-seat the hard disk and reboot the computer. If the computer does not boot up then reboot and go into the BIOS configuration to see if the BIOS detects the hard drive. If it doesn't detect the hard drive then it could be faulty.
Then the hard drive needs to be replaced in the computer/laptop, Windows installed and the computer or laptop's device drivers plus your programs etc. to get a functioning computer/laptop again.

Thank you for the last one. know i want to set up mu 3laptops on the windows server 2008 r2 standered and use the server as a domain and the laptops as well like a domain.

first you need to setup the roles in the server, go to the manage server console, ( can be found as a shortcut in the taskbar or under start menu ) then open the console and go to add roles.

1 - add active directory

2 - in the process it will ask you to install the DNS server role ( do it )

3 - after installing the role in the CMD command prompt type DCPROMO

4 - the DC controller installation and setup will beging ( do not do anything during this proccess )

5 - when asked by DC setup to choose what type of domain functionality level do the following

1 - windows 2003 ( this is for compatibility for windows server running 2003 and XP machines )

2 - Windows Server 2008 ( at this point nothing lower than XP can be added to the DC of course domain functionalities will increase - Only other 2008 server domain controller can be added and cluster migration from server 2003 to 2008 is not supported. )

3 - Windows Server 2008 R2 ( at this point only machines running Vista and 7 can be added to domain - windows xp is no longer supported. All the functionalities of the domain controller are available)

keep in mind once you promote the domain controller to a higher level it can't be brouht to a lower level.

once active directory is installed restart you server and the you should be able to add the clients pc or laptos to the DC example

- right click over my computer icon
- click on properties
- computer name
- change the computer from workgroup to domain
- type your FQDN ( fully qualified domain name) example: mynetwork.local or mysite.com
- apply changes and restart
- your computer will be part of the domain next time system boots up.

During bootup, the screen shows: 1. server raid-7k on board power-on self test takes up to 60 secones. after 60 seconds, displyed another line shows: status - not responding properly - error-code 2807

It means that your raid is not seeing its drives. Usually after a power failure.

Rebooting the server will fix it in the short term.

To fix it long term you need to update the servers firmware.

Hi,
If the computer keeps rebooting when you first start it up it is quite possible that the hard drive is broken. It keeps looking for the start up boot sector, but it's broken so it keeps trying again..and again...and well you know.

Gateway 995 boot problems

Maybe you can check you BIOS / your boot device priority and set it to your hard drive as default.

If this doesn't work, then the problem would be your hard drive (it's read / write function is not functioning properly.)
