My camera won't regognise my memory card: although the memory card is in the camera, on-screen it says "int" which i know means photos will be taken on the internal memory, as if there's not a memory card inside. When i put the card into my computer, the photos i have taken show up normally. This happened once before and i was told to replace the memory cardwhich i did. It worked for a while and now is doing the same again. The memory card only had about 50 photos on it when this started to happen so it's not as if the card is full. I tried my card in a friend's camera and it worked fine. I need to solve this problem quickly as i need my camera for a very important event at my son's school next week. Please help! Thank you.

With no card in the camera, go into the menu and find "format"...follow the on-screen instructions to erase the internal memory. Then, your card should work properly.

ALTERNATE WAY TO TRANSFER PHOTOS AND VIDEOS TO A COMPUTER
If your photos and videos are stored on the memory card, then remove the memory card from the camera and insert it into an USB memory card reader. Connect this USB memory card reader and memory card into the USB port of your working computer. Your computer will see this as an USB Mass Storage Device or an external storage device; you can then open the folder on the memory card and copy the photos to your computer. Memory card reader is a handy device and is inexpensive. You can copy photos from other cameras and you can also download photos off your memory card to someone else's computer without the need of installing any programs.

Computer will not regognise camera

Consider NOT connecting your camera to your computer.

The best way to download pictures from your camera to your computer involves removing the memory card from the camera and plugging it into a card reader (either built-in to the computer or connected via USB or FireWire). This is likely to be faster than connecting the camera to the computer, and won't run down your camera's batteries.

Once the card is plugged in, it will appear to your computer as a removable drive. You can use the operating system's drag&drop facility to copy pictures from the card to the computer's hard drive, the same way you copy any other files. Or you can use any photo cataloging program such as Picasa.

My Olympus C-560 has stopped taking photos although it switches on and the lens extends. It will playback earlier photos and provides the usual on screen information but does not show what you are...

You may have filled up your SD (memory card) although it should have displayed a message about that or may indeed be doing so. Check the display icons with the list of what they are and mean in your instruction manual.

I have vivitar 5024 camera. i have a 4gb chip in it, i have only taken about 50 pic. and the camera says the chip has no more pictures to be taken on chip

Try taking photos on a lower resolution. They use much less space on your memory card. But only 50 on 4gb means something is wrong.

Check to see everything on the card is actually a picture and not a video. Taking videos can chew up amazing amounts of space, after all a video is a huge string of photos strung together. I hate to think it but some time ago a conamn was selling doctored memory cards which read 4gb on your camera but actually held only 2 gb. I would've thought these could have been long gone but if you purchesed it used it could well be one of those. Although I'd still expect more than 50 shots.
Maybe your card requirers a format. If your camera has a formatting capability try it out, just make sure you do it with a known good set of fully charged batteries. If they die halfway through a format it can wreck your card.
Your camera should certainly allow more pictures to be taken on a 4gb card. Buy check the above and maybe borrow a card from a friend to try out or even a another card. A spare sure comes in handy and with today's prices they're as cheap as chips.

Memory Card

If you transfer the photos to your computer from the camera, you should be able to save to another memory card. I can't say whether or not the photos on the new memory card will show up on your camera since there may be certain requirements to display on camera screen.
Plug your camera into the computer USB or insert old memory card. A box should pop up giving you the option to view files. Copy and Paste (or Drag) selected photos to a specified folder on your computer (Like My Pictures in My Documents). Insert new memory card. Copy and Paste (or Drag) selected photos to the drive for your memory card.
