I have an american standard toilet and it will not take the waste out. It is not clogged but will not take the paper out. It has a black tank inside the tank with a top screw to adjust. Could you tell me how to adjust?

If your toilet is not moving waste all the way to the septic, then there may be a blockage in the waste line or it may not be plumbed correctly. There is no reason why you should not be able to make a full flush on septic. I have live on septic for many years and it should flush as well as living in the city. Is your water supply nice and strong? This sound like a gravity issue with the waste line or a blockage, If you can get under your house and see how the waste line is run, that would be helpful, it should be aimed straight down underneath your toilet and never running uphill at any point on the way to the septic tank. Also is there a vent in the waste line at the proper distance. If not, that could also be the issue. Good luck. P.s. does your septic tank need pumped out?
hello, this is a standard toilet you will need to inspect the flapper that is the rubber flap that holds the water up in the tank it works when you pull the lever it pulls the chain upward and lets the water flow if this flapper is old it may not stay up long enough for the water to flow. open the tank top and flush the toilet see if this flapper is staying up long enough and giving the tank enough time to empty if not change this rubber flapper its inexpensive part.
if this is not the reason then you need to adjust your water filler valve there should be a small screw on top of the pivoting float arm
if you have to adjust it for the water limit line inside the tank this will be the proper amount of water needed to flush once completely
also check that the chain lenth on the pull lever is not pulling the flapper down quicker than its supposed to,
I have the American Standard Champion 4 toilet. Water is leaking from the tank to the bowl causing the toilet to refill. I've replaced the flapper and cleaned the surface the flapper contact. Nothing seems to work.
