Hi - I bought my HTC S710 about three months ago. I love the phone and it's functions, but the battery power is horrible. My battery lasts only for 1 - 2 hours per day. Another funny thing I've noticed, is that when I charge my phone for an hour or so, Power Mangement displays 100%, but as soon as I disconnects the charger, the power meter goes down to 35% again.
Please help me with my problem. How can I fix this. Do I need to buy a new battery? Any suggestions?
Hi,
it could be either battery or charger, If the charger isn't supplying enough power it will fool the phone..
some 3rd party batteries and cheapo chargers can cause all sorts of problems like this.
best way to test is charge your phone by usb, it takes longer but will give you some idea of weather its the battery or charger.
Make sure that the box at the bottom of the power management window (dont charge by usb) is set to off. Also for best results remove any other usb devices from the computer this will leave more power for the phone.
Best of luck
Hi all,
I am a proud owner of the HTC S710 the past one year, when I bought, it first I experienced, most of the problems mentioned here about the battery, while under guarantee period I exchanged the battery for another ,and since then I cont have any power problem though.
however, since its running WM, its normal for the battery to discharge, I tweaked with the power management, by reducing the timing of the various function to bare minimum.
resulting in the battery to last for one full day after a full charge.
do try this out.
cheers!
natt
There is definitely something completely wack with the power management on the 710. Ive tried with different HTC chargers and even a new battery. problems described here earlier accuretely describes my phone's problems but i think i found a way.
:::turn on the power mangement motitor (settings, choice 9)
:::charge the unit
:::the power meter should gradually rise (like 1% pr minute)
:::this indicate proper and true charging
sometimes when I connect the charger the meter will not rise, so then I disconnect and connect again till it does.
Also when using a docking charger it helps disconnecting and reconnecting the power cable from this unit.
:::bottom line: check the power management to ensure that are really charging
My 710 batteries and chargers are all HTC original and I have several. Problem is in the phone power mangement itself or the connection pins. Pity though, cause I like it better than the 730.

I have read a post somewhere that getting a ROM update from HTC solved this problem for someone.
Any thoughts on that?

I have managed to find a solution to the HTC S710 short battery life problem.
I don't know any of the details of you guys but I got mine a couple of weeks ago from British Telecom as part of their Broadband Anywhere package.
To cut a long story short a replacement battery they sent me didn't last 10 hours either and that was with phone on standby with no ops running at all!
I tried all the things suggested in these posts and I emailed HTC (they are useless - I'm still waiting for a reply after a week and wasn't even able to download their software as the site seemed closed) - nothing worked. That suggested to me that the problem might be the phone itself.
Then I spoke with a BT techy woman from Newcastle who just happened to ask which version of the operating system I had running. It seems v2.3 and earlier versions have a lot of bugs that drain the battery. So the upgrade from www.bt.com/help/broadbandanywhere/phoneupdate gave me v2.4x which includes the ROM upgrade that is mentioned in these posts. It has lots of tweaks and changes numerous default settings like checking email every 30 minutes! You need active sync running but this is available from the same website if you don't have it. The process takes about 3/4 hour, is a bit fiddly and does need a user input but it works eventually.
I downloaded the software updates three days and one hour ago and the battery still has 28% power. So as far as I am concerned that is the problem solved.
It's also worth noting that after running any applications you need to close them down by going to Start/Expert/Task Manager/Menu and close down all or any applications you don't actually want running to conserve battery power.
Hope this helps.

There may be a physical issue with your logic board. You can get the part at HTC Repair and there is a guide that shows you how to put in the part at HTC Repair Guide.
I have the same problem,
I have htc s710 and the phone is very good,
the battery life has gone from needing a full charge every couple of days to only lasting 2-3 hours.
I really enjoy this phone but the power issue makes this phone unusable so any suggestions is welcomed.
Do you find this valuable?

Usually answered in minutes!
my phones battery also gets low within minutes, even though i charge from charger or usb
My S710 does something similar. I would charge it and some times I would have 50% left and out of nowhere it depletes to 2%. Then the phone shuts off cuz out of power. However, when I charge a bit to get it going (thinking that the battery was really out) and turn on the phone. It returns to normal.... until today. It jumped to 2% batttery, turned off due to lack of power, tried charging it with both the USB and the adapter, but it doesn't charge at all. I'm thinking about purchasing a battery to see if it'll resolve the problem. The phone is about 12-13 months old. I like the phone, but this battery issue is pissing me off. Any suggestions?
this phone is nothing but mini lap top, it is useless because very poor battery back up. kindly help me to improve the battery back up. now i am solving by carring the charger with me. my e-mail addrs is [email protected]
Fm Malick Chennai.
I have the same problem in HTC S710. The problem is when in use on battery ( not in charging) the battery percentage suddenly becomes low causing the phone off.
When I gave to HTC Service Center at Chennai they say the phone is beyond repair and they can not do anyhting.

Hi
HTC S710 battery is a real problem. Fully charged with nothing running and phone just switched on the battery goes flat and phone switches off after little more than 12 hours.
Doesn't give me confidence to go anywhere and have the phone switched on.
I got the phone from BT and they have replaced the battery but it's just the same.
Is it the batteries or is there something wrong with the phone? I've seen posts where people seem to be getting up to three days.
Can anyone help with this?
Cheers from Jeff Erton
Can someone tell me what solid yellow led light on the left hand side of the HTC S710 means? My S710's battery in going flat within hours after the abovemetioned yellow led light started shining.
I recently bought the phone and too I think its great but after a few clicks, the battery is close to finished. I realy think the battery has been foiled during the production. Can I claim under the Warrenty? because they warrenty says it covers the accessaries fo 12 months, so I assume the battery falls under the accessaries.... any suggestions
I face the same problem with my VOX as well. Somebody told me this could be because of my backlight settings. Any insight into the situation? What could be a solution?
My phone goes from 0% to 100% charged in power management in minutes and then only lasts minutes before it completely shuts down. The down button on the joystick no longer works and the hang up button broke off after pressing it numerous times. This is the worst phone that I have ever owned don't buy this piece of ****!
Battery issue problem
HTC S710 battery power is really horrible. Doesn't last even half of my earlier Nokia on a full charge so number of chargings are more and battery life is frustratingly small. My phone is only one and a half years and I am already looking for a battery replacement, which is not easily available. I have a nokia phone which I bought in 2005 and the battery is still working perfectly. HTC is hopeless!
My battery lasts for maximum of 3 hours and the battery is flat. I have only used this phone for 7 months.
On my next renewal of contract, I won't take another HTC
