Dear Sir
I have a Samsung 50" DLP Model HL-R5076W (model code HLR5067WAX/XAA) type number AT50L6 made in August 2005 (bought new) its worked fine until recently when it started to have these symptoms...
On an analog input (DVD connected to component input) it came on with non-moving plaid-like pattern of lines, the picture was mostly green (with some blue/purple tints) and slow moving.. i.e. maybe only about 1/4 normal frame rate, until finally the picture would lock up and then the sets controls would lock up (non responsive to physical buttons on the set OR remote control input, although the remote indicator lamp will flash on the set when you press a remote button). Had to unplug/replug to reset the set.
Comes back on, didn't have the problem immediately but then it came back after a few minutes. By plugging/unplugging I was able to determine that it only does this on analog inputs, digital inputs (HDMI, PC/VGA and AIR- with a HD signal) all work fine.
Also... if displaying an analog signal WITH the plaid pattern, if I turn on the TV's menu or the TV-GUIDE that content displays just fine (over top of or including PIP with bad plaid but main display ok).
The problem has become steadily worse to the point that now its not doing the green plaid lines, but locking up and going to a blank screen very rapidly... now does this on digital inputs sometimes too.
I am an electrical engineer and purchased the service manual, and I believe the problem to be the "analog board" since it seems to process all analog signals before handing off to the digital board AND because it processes all controls (physical buttons on the set and remote control) plus the power supply routes through this board to other circuits within the set.
I know the lamp/balast are ok, color wheel is spinning and the DMD/Light Engine must be ok since it can display the TV's menus and TV-GUIDE just fine. Equally the power supply itself must be ok since things are working normally.
In your opinion am I on the right track? do you think replacing the analog board (bought from samsungparts.com) would be my best option?
You can reply to [email protected] or [email protected] with your answer.
Thanks for your time.

You are absolutely correct, When anyone complains of vertical lines or bars, the next step is to see if it happens on only digital inputs ( digital board ) , only analog inputs ( analog board ) , or both ( DMD board ) .
Analog board can be purchased at www.partstore.com ,
This set is known for digital board issues. If the lines are not showing up on the menu's or in the Pic in pic window then It is the digital board. This set is known to have issues with the DNIE BGA chip on the digital board with solder breaking under it makeing this issue. Very common issue I have seen many times in my repair shop.

These are the Tests that should be run to determine which board is bad.You should call a good TV Tech if you are not familiar with this TV.
- The DDP1011 on the DMD board has a feature to display internal test patterns.
- DNle, which is an end port in the digital board, has a feature to display internal test patterns.
- The analog board sends signals to ADV7402 on the digital board.
- The analog board is the first output and the digital board is the second one, followed by DMD, which is the final one.
■ Diagnosis By Module
1. Access Service Mode
(In Standby mode, press "Mute", "1", "8", "2" and "Power" to turn the screen on and enter service mode)
2. Check if there is an error in the DMD board
DDP1011 → TEST PATTERN → Press the right arrow key:
Options of FULL WHITE, BLACK, RED, GREEN and BLUE PATTERN are displayed on the screen.
If "Pattern" does not appear, this is a DMD board error.
3. Check if there is an error in the digital board before the DMD.
When the DMD board has been determined to be error free based on the test patterns:
FACTORY MODE → DNIe → TEST PATTERN normal display: no error in the digital board.
If "Pattern" does not appear, it may be from a DMD board or ATI error or there is an analog board malfunction.
4. Check if there is an error in the analog board.
Check for a power signal from the analog to the digital boards

I am having the same problem, but I even replaced the lamp but it did not
help. Does anyone have a clue to what the problem is?
Same thing happening.
I have the same problem on my HLR5067W. It is only on Analog TV signal. It is green with block squares. I unplug and replug and it goes away for a while, then comes back. Recently the lamp failed to come on. I opened it, noticed things are dusty inside, took the lamp out and vacuumed the lab housing a bit and put it back. Now light works again (digital channels are ok) but analog is one again blue. Would like to resolve the analog issue. On digital channels I notice there is blocking when the background is dark - it looks like a checkerboard (20+ blocks heightwise). Does anyone know the reason for this?
We have the same problem. It started after a power outage, then after a few times of unplugging and replugging it in, it was fine for several weeks. Then we had a storm coming, so we unplugged it. When we plugged it back in, we had the problem again. This time it was 8 days later before the picture came back.
Again, it worked for several weeks, then we unplugged it for a storm this week and it is back. For us it has been on all channles, but some are worse. Sometimes it is a loose pattern and we can still see the picture, other times it is a tighter pattern and obliterates the picture.
