If your old antena is a Seatalk or NMEA antena you can use it for your C80
If you GPS antenna is older than five year change it.

As long as the old antenna still works, it will work with the C80. I would however, recommend that you replace it simply because the newer antenna (the Ray 125) is much better and faster than the older 120.

If it is an RS 120 or an RS112 antenna you do not need to change it.These are both active antennas in other words they do all the gps computing in the unit itself. You need to look at the wire from the antenna. If it is a coax cable(2 wire) it will not work.If it is 3 or 4 wires it will work. If 3 wire (red ,silver yellow) just hook up color for color. If 4 wire you are going to have to figure out the wiring for it from the units wiring diagram. That could be a big enough pain that you might be inclined to change to the new antenna. If you wire the new RS125 antenna you must wire it to the seatalk buss. The seatalk wires are Red Silver and Yellow. The wire from the RS125 are red yellow silver green and brown.Wire as follow to your sea talk cable.Yellow to Yellow, red to red , silver to silver, green to red, brown to silver.
Hope this helps.

I have a old raymarine c80 navigation sometimes it gives me a fix when i turn it on and sometimes it will not. Do i need a new antenna if so what kind.

The issue is related to the antenna, either bad connection, low voltage or faulty gps. Start by checking the voltage supplied to the antenna (most probably through SeaTalk from the plotter), if you find this to be 11V or bellow - beef it up by adding external 12V. You can also check the wiring, if all looks ok - it is time to get a new gps antenna. Raymarine has a retrofit pack for the new RS130 which also includes SeaTalk ng converter. With some luck it's only the power...

What is the connection path from Garmin 72 to raymarine c80, using NMEA 1083

I'm taking this as you want to send the gps information to your C80 not receive from the C80? If this is the case the brown wire on the garmin is the nmea data out +. The Black wire is considered nmea out neg (-) of the garmin. So hook the garmin brown to the white on the raymarine. Hook the black from the garmin to the green on the raymarine. That means you are outputting lat/long info to the raymarine from the garmin.

Cut antenna wire raymarine 300waas gps

That unit uses a TNC connector. Just have someone install a new one on the end of the cable. IT's a little more difficult than a F connector for a TV but not rocket science. You can also send it in to Mid-Shore Electronics. Just google them and get their number. They have alot of experience with the older stuff.

I bought a C80 Raymarine Plotter this has a NMEA pigtail with Brown, Screen, Yellow, Green And White wires I haave also bought a RS 125 Receiver this has a pigtail lead with Red , Green, Yellow, Brown and...

If you have a Raymarine pilot it makes sence to wire it all up to Seatalk. Wire as follows Red to red , silver to silver, yellow to yellow, brown(on rs125) to silver on seatalk buss Green (on rs125) to red on seatalk buss. The above is for the conection between RS125 and C80.
To hook the pilot to system you just need to hook the seatalk lines (red, yellow, silver) from the pilot to the conection with the RS125 and the seatalk cable to the C80.(Color for color). The sea talk connection for your pilot can be picked up from you course computer they are labeld and colored on the unit.
If you are not running a course computer as in the case with the older wheel and tiller pilots you will need to take a sea talk cable and cut it. Once it is cut you will see the red yellow and silver wires and you can tap into there . Remember to connect the cable back together were you cut it. Hope this helps
