My 50 inch LG plasma has a green screen for about 2 seconds before the cable kicks in. the plasma is about 5 years old

check both power units for dry joints and caps going faulty. as this is most likely a problem. its because Plasma screens get so hot they cause these problems.

It is going to be one of two basic issues:

1. There is a poor connection somewhere in the set--either with a plug or cable or on one of the boards.

2. There is a board that is beginning to fail causing this.

Either would require a shop and may or may not be worth the cause.

Having seen hundreds of these sets all are more prone to flaky problems than the older sets and average life span is 3-5 years.

Shop I work for 80% of them are 2 years old or less.

If problem began shortly after set was moved or relocated I would lean towards a bad connection somewhere.

Power supply board have dead capcitors.Know how to solders?These capacitors usally bulge or pop open,replaced these capacitors will solved this problem.Or tries websites Shopjimmy.com,Ebay.com to buy a Whole reburbish power supply board for the replacement.

I am having the exact same problem with my LG 50". It's two weeks old. Has anyone found a solution?

I have exact same problem...other posts have cited improper grounding from the Cable...which makes sense as the problem does not occrr with the DVD...I have not figured out how to fix it though...

Warranty, Warranty, Warranty. Those new screens cost an arm and a leg. Don't let them give you "NO" for an answer.

The logical fix would be to activate your 3 year warranty, messing about yourself is unlikely to fix it and very likely to void your warranty. The time for do it yourself repairs is when you have no warranty.
