HP Photosmart C5180 All-In-One InkJet Printer Logo
Posted on Oct 21, 2017

I have an HP Photosmart C5170 All in One. If I try to print a word doc (I have a Toshiba with a Windows 7 platform) the print goes from clear and black one line, then fades the next two or three lines, then repeats with a clear black line. I can scan and print fine. I can print an Adobe file from my computer perfectly. Just not from word.

SOURCE: Scanning docs with my Hp photosmart restricts me

I can't be sure but you could try this.

1) Ensure your default email is set to your desired email tool, ie Incredimail.

2) Open a browser window, click on tools from the tool bar and select internet options from the drop down menu.

3) Click on the programs tab at the top of the window, you will see a bunch of boxes, one labeled E-mail. Click on the arrow at the side and select the email tool you wish to use. (Same as in 1) Click on Apply the try scanning again.

I can not print from Windows 7 Microsoft word 2010, the pages come out blank, can print in excel and other office programs just not documents please help have tried everything

Make sure you are installing CURRENT drivers/software offered by HP for your printer for Windows 7. Get it here:

https://support.hp.com/us-en/drivers/selfservice/hp-photosmart-e-all-in-one-printer-series-d110/4023244/model/4023245

Maybe the issue is not printer related. Maybe Word 2010 needs some sort of update. Windows Update will update Windows OS and other Microsoft products (I have a Windows 7 PC running Office 97, Windows Update treats it like Office 2003 and STILL updates it!).

Or, you could manually install them:

https://www.google.com/search?q=word+2010+update&ie=utf-8&oe=utf-8&client=firefox-b-1

Good luck.

Upgraded to windows 7 and my hp photosmart c6180 is not printing

one option you have is to go to hp/support type in your product c6180 you'll have software download options for windows 7. These downloads should enable your printer to print again. Although from using windows 7 the os has been very good at recognizing printers when plugged in. Could try unplugging and replugging the printer in from the usb. Windows 7 might recognize and automatically download the correct drivers. If not download the software from hp.

Printer queue is full

This problem seems to be related to USB printers and print queue issues are very common in Mac OS computers and Windows 2000 PCs.

You don't say if you are using a USB connector, but they're pretty common these days. You also don't say if you're using a Mac or PC, but most people use PCs. I did find a solution for this issue that says it's related to Windows 2000 and a USB printer, but may apply to other operating system platforms:

Print Jobs are Stuck in the Print Queue

The first step to this solution is to download and install an HP diagnostic software utility. There's a separate page at HP that describes the utility and lets you download it:

HP Printing and Diagnostic Utility

I didn't find any information that specifically said that you "can" print a test page but "can't" print a document.

Another reason why you might be able to print a test page but not a document isn't related to the printer but the application that created the document. If you are having trouble with Word or Excel or whatever office application you used to create the doc, it might not print. That's why it is helpful to try to print a variety of different docs, created with different apps.

It could also be the individual document. Occasionally, a document becomes corrupted and while you may be able to open it (and sometimes you can't do even that), it doesn't print. If you haven't tried printing more than one document, you can test this by creating another doc in the same app and seeing if it'll print.

Try doing test prints with different docs and then with docs created in different apps. If those work, it's doc/app related. If they don't, try the links I suggested above.

Good luck.
