Tag Heuer 2000 Aquagraph numbers and luminescence coming off

I bought my aquagraph as a bonafide dedicated dive watch and have logged over 400 dives over the past 3 yrs. I noticed that several numbers and some of the bezels luminescence has come off earlier this yr. I found out from Tag that these items are painted on. Doesn't Tag know that water and paint do not mix and stick well and eventually these painted items will peel off. I have had the watch into the service center 3 times this yr. to have the numbers repainted. Well it has been less than 6 months and the numbers are coming off again. One would think that anodizing the numbers would remedy this shortcoming. I thought this watch would hold up for many yrs. I was wrong. Any suggestions.

Which way does the bezel turn on a tag watch

Tag Heuer watches are constructed with scuba-diving bezels-- that is to say, it only turns COUNTERCLOCKWISE. This is so that when you are diving, you set the triangle marker to the time you went down. If you accidentally bump your watch while diving, it will move only counterclockwise, leading you to think you have LESS time left to dive, which is so much safer than thinking you have MORE time to dive, than you really do.

Would like to know how much a tag 2000 professional is worth

Depends upon its condidion. List price that you can get on the internet ranges from 780.00 to 950.00 for a new watch. Used ones in good condition are in the 400.00 - 500.00 range. Scratches, age, or case damage will detract from that. The older ones have luminescent infill on the no. 12 character. Newer ones have a square around the date window and the no. 12 character is chrome. Older model numbers for a 2000 are stamped in the back of the case. Newer ones are etched. A "...-1" at the end of the model number is a later model. A "...-0" is a little older and no dash "-" as in WK1111 is a little older yet. Some old models exhibit common characteristic of degredation of the luminescent glow-after-dark material that is applied to the number digits and the hands. Color will look to be a mottled grey and its not uniform and it isn't as bright.

Need new band and case for dive wk1320. Where to buy?

Send it to Tag. You spend as much as for a new watch but if you really want the new case and band for this watch you'll need to deal with Tag in some way and the fastest is to send it directly to them. Even then it will take months for them to replace the parts.

Hope this helps,

How do use the latch on a tag heuer watch?

If you're question is about the extension links then it's only purpose is to fit on your wrist wearing a full wetsuit while scuba diving. When you're out of the wetsuit you simply tuck it inside the locking clasp hiding the links like a regular metal band. Hope this is the answer you are looking for.

How do you replace the batteries on a Rotary Revelation watch?

Take your watch to your nearest watch shop and ask them to do it for you.

You can get into difficulty replacing batteries and it is not worth the risk for the small cost saving.

My Tag Heuer chronograph will not reset to zero.

Try the following, which I discovered by accident on my Tag Professional. Pull the crown out to the first position, and then you may find that successive pushes of the upper pushbutton will move one of the chrono hands by one division, and the lower pushbutton will move a different chrono hand. Similarly if you pull the crown out to the second position, the pushbuttons will control the other chrono hands. In this way you can set each of the chrono hands to their zero positions. Hope this works for you. Geoff

Tag link chronograph

It sounds like the button is not making contact with the movement curcit board. Take it to a watchmaker who has a pressure tester so he can look and see if in fact this is the problem, and then can re-seal your watch to the exact number of meters your watch can go diving to.

Runs Fast

Usually when a watch with a mechanical movement is running fast its is because the adjustment on the hairspring is advanced to far. Since it wasn't running fast to begin with I can assume its because something was knocked loose. It is possible that a tiny drop of oil was on the hairspring and by knocking the watch two coils are stuck together by the oil. (this usually only happens if it has been over oiled by an amature watch repairer) Magnitization is possible but pretty unlikely, unless you play with Big coils of wire that are carrying a LOT of current. Either way, unless you know what you're doing and have the right tools, you are looking at taking it to a Tag repair center. Since a simple tune up can cost about $250, I'd expect to pay $400 to $500 for that one. Welcome to the wonderful world of high end watches.
