SOURCE: door does not latch close

If you gently push up on the door latches (hook-like devices on the door) there should be spring tension. If they just flop right up, the spring is off.

Normally the problem is not the spring, but a broken spring mounting tab on the door latch head (hook) assembly or the inner door panel.

If it's the door panel, it's usually easier and cheaper to use epoxy and some kind of hardware to fashion a new spring mount.

The door latch head (hook) is easy to replace or repair if that's the issue.

You can order Panasonic parts here.

We have critical safety & disassembly info at our site, linked here.

Normally you have to separate the door panels (as shown in the attached photo) and then you'll see the screws you need to remove.

Or you can watch a YouTube video (not a video I made) here that demonstrates how it's done.

Do you mean the part with hook-like projections that stick out of the door, or the part that holds the door switches inside the oven?

SOURCE: Door Release Button not working on Panasonic Microwave NN-T664SFT

The problem I had experienced with the Door not opening easily will be resolved by removing the micowave oven top cover with a tamper proof torx head, replacing the door switch and reinstalling the top cover.

SOURCE: panasonic nnt774sf door will not remain closed.

You can purchase parts for Panasonic microwaves but home repair is not recommended due to them being lethal if you do something wrong. I would find a good local repair shop and they should be able to find the part and repair. It might not however be cost effective, depends on the part price.

Something in the door is causing microwave to shutoff. Sensor is on, but then shuts down unless, also you hold a certain pushing in the button.

Adjust the latch switch assembly to make sure that the door hooks engage with the switches. Loosen the 2 phillip screws holding the assembly and slide back and forth to adt. Retighten when the door hooks are making solid contact with the switches.

Door will not open. Nothing broken in the mechanism

Hi Glen,
Have you taken the wrapper off of the unit to open the door? You usually have to use a pencil or small screwdriver to lift up on the bottom latch head (doorkey as Panasonic calls it). These counter top models typically use a three step method to open the door. The push to open button pushes on a lever that then lifts up on the bottom doorkey. The lifting lever cracks and won't support fully the weight of the doorkey. The crack can be small enough to not really be noticeable if you are not very familiar with this problem. I'm pretty sure that this is what you will find. Let me know..

I have a Panasonic microwave. It is Model NN-T774SF. It has an inverter. The latch on the door will not close. Is it worth the cost of repair?

This is usually a pretty simple fix.

The spring has probably become disconnected from the door latch head assembly or inner door panel.

If so, you can either order a replacement for the broken part, or install a small screw into the broken part, reinforce it with epoxy, and then reassemble everything.

Normally you have to separate the door panels (as shown in the attached photo) and then you'll see the parts involved.

Yes, to take down the face you must have the unit fully accessible - the bolts are accessible only from the rear.

Inside side of door there are screws that hold glass like a sandwich between outside side and inside side of the door. They are usualy fastened with screws. You have to unscrew and take a part to remove broken latch to replace it with new part.
