I ordered the replacement batteries for my Remington R-950 from the Shaver Outlet.com suggested on this site. I installed them (I think) exactly like the ones I removed. The new batteries have been charging for 20 hours or so. I put the black wire with negative & red with positive. Then they are joined together at the bottom. When I tied turning it on for a minute just to see if it is working nothing happened. Help Steve

Recheck your connections and recheck that the polarity is correct. Also, make sure that everything was put back together properly and nothing has bound up

SOURCE: Remington es1000

The Remington ES-1000 was probably the best slot-head shaver ever made by Remington. I cannot believe that the market demand was so low as to prompt a cancellation of production. I believe that the production run was limited to about 4 years or so. I have 8 of these shavers and keep a couple old Remington slot heads around as well. The ES-1000 was not perfect. The batteries were way too small and stressed so battery life was poor. You could not buy individual blades as you could with past Remington slot-head units. Also, the edge of the head was too exposed and sharp and when used for body shaving would tend to cut the skin.Slot-head shavers are superior for body shaving and for skin that is suseptible to shaving bumps. They are also great for young men that are prone to ingrown hairs. My guess is that the Norelco 3 head has taken it's place. Those shavers actually use 3 small slot heads. Rumor has it that shavers.com is trying to have a new slot head manufactured in Asia.

SOURCE: Anyone know HOW to change

It is doubtful that the cord is the problem unless there is visable damage to the cord. Most likely, the batteries are dead. You will find the correct replacement battery type at shaveroutlet.com. See link below. You will need 2

http://shaveroutlet.com/shaver-replacement-parts/batteries/shaver-battery-pack-for-most-shavers-p-211.html

To change them, take off the back cover by removing the screws. Inside you will see the two batteries. There may be some black tape on the ends. If so remove the tape so that you can get to the tabs on the batteries. Unsolder the old batteries from the wires and solder in the new batteries

If you are not equipped to do this yourself, shaveroutlet.com can do it for you. See link below for information and ordering

Sounds like the batteries are dead. Easiest fix is to buy a replacement lower unit. Available at shaveroutlet.com. See link below

SOURCE: I have a brand new remington r 9500 r rotary

Model R-9500 has been discontinued for several years. It is very possible that the batteries are dead because they are so old. You may need to replace them. You will find the correct battery type at shaveroutlet.com. See link below. You will need 2

http://shaveroutlet.com/shaver-replacement-parts/batteries/shaver-battery-pack-for-most-shavers-p-211.html

To change batteries, remove three screws on back. The third screw is hard to see. To access it, you will need to remove the trimmer from the point that it pivots out from the shaver. Use a small flat screwdriver to gently pry the small plastic pegs from their corresponding sockets on the shaver body. Remove back cover. Inside, remove the metal clip that covers the batteries near the bottom of the shaver. Unsolder the batteries from the wires. Solder in the new batteries.

If you are not able to repair the shaver yourself, shaveroutlet.com can do it for you. See link below

SOURCE: Remington R-1000 battery replacement

I guess by now you have either thrown out the shaver or found out how to take the cover off.
The secret is to remove the bottom cover plate (Cap) as described in the manual. There is a small slot at the back of the charging cord recess (see photo) that allows you to pop it off with a small, flat blade screwdriver. There are 2 screws under the cap, and 2 more at the top under the trimmer assembly, which is removed as described in the manual (the manual states there are only 3 screws holding the cover).
The batteries are AA NiMH, 1800 mAh capacity, which I hope to get at The Source (used to be Radio Shack in Canada).
When removing the batteries, make sure to carefully pry off the heat sensor which is attached to one battery with a dab of silicone (and which must be reattached later).
I have attached a few photos to show the slot in the cap, and the battery wire colours when you are reconnecting new batteries.

Open shaver by removing two screws on the back. Then remove back cover to access battery compartment. You will need to 'unsolder' the wires from the ends of the batteries. Once removed, solder the new batteries to the wires.
