it sound to me as if the high voltage diode is shorted. It could be inside the capacitor or out board the cap. The capactor could also be short but this is a rarity. Diodes are a cheep item . repace it and if it don't work its probably the magnatro. good luck.

Some over the range models allow you to turn off the turntable via the keypad. Counter top models usually don't.

You can see and hear a video of how a turntable motor should sound when you rotate it by hand: http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=rPSWi_z7M58

If yours won't rotate or it sounds like it's grinding, etc., you may have a bad motor or plastic coupler.

To replace either, you need to unplug power, then remove the bottom cover of the oven. You may have to cut the cover off with snips, then use a screw when reassembling it.

SOURCE: My LG microwave is no longer heating up food. LG

It can be somewhat tricky and dangerous if you are not careful. Unless you are capable of working around high voltage and able to re assemble something with lots of carefully fitted pieces I would let a trained professional do this job.

Kitchen aid microwave blow 20 amp internal fuse after 1 second only when starting runs 1 secod then blows fuse

Based on you information, if you disconnected magnatron and unit ran with no fuse problem, I would suspect magnatron. You should consider the age of unit it, may be be a better alternative to replace it.

How to troubleshoot a Magichef md# MCD1611ST microwave that is not heating anything at all.

Most Frequent Causes for Microwave not working Thermal Fuse

The thermal fuse cuts off power to the microwave if the microwave overheats. To determine if the thermal fuse has blown, use a multimeter to test it for continuity. If the fuse does not have continuity, replace it. The thermal fuse cannot be reset-if the fuse is blown, it must be replaced. Why is turntable skipping after motor replacement?

It doesnt matter which way it is plugged in. If the microwave has a guide roller (ring with 3 wheels), check the wheels to see it they are all intact and roll smoothly.

Food is not heated

two things could be wrong. One, There is an inline fuse that allows the current to flow to the magnatron. If this fuse is blown then the unit wont heat. Remove the outer cover and follow the cord into the unit and you should see the fuse. Make sure you replace this fuse with the same type. If the fuse doesnt work then the magnatron has gone out and cost for repair is about the cost of a new microwave

LG microwave oven rotating but not heating

I have found that the common cause for this problem is either the 'High Voltage Fuse (HV fuse)' or the 'Magnatron Assembly'. In some instances it can easily be both.
My advice is to read throughly how to discharge a 'High Voltage Capacitor (HV capacitor)' to avoid any injury or worse yet, death.
After doing so you can find the HV fuse runing from the HV capacitor, it will be inside a small plastic casing, you will be able to see with the naked eye if it has blown. If so, replace it.
As for the magnatron Assembly, it looks like a large silver cube with a series of magnets inside it, they are not as easy to test to see if they are faulty or not so if the fuse doesnt repair the issue, replace the magnatron assembly as well. I hope this offers some help. Good luck.

Microwave is plugged in, but getting no power, circuit ok, cannot find a fuse on the microwave.

Normally if no power is indicated, it is due to a blown fuse but if fuse has blown be careful, it because there is something wrong. Mostly its due to a problem in the power circuit. Can either be the magnatron or the diode capacitor combination.Normally the capacitor goes faulty causing the HV diode to blow. Replace the two components(diode and cap.). If it happens again replace the magnatron. Microwave truely dangerous and needs proffesional att. email me if you want to go ahead yourself

I think I broke my baby...

If it's dead, it's probably a blown fuse or maybe a blown thermalcouple fuse. a bad magnatron won't make the unit apear dead unless its blowing fuses.

Hope that helps..
