Hi - my Viking dishwasher has developed a problem where the pump runs continuously, whether the power switch is ON or OFF. After the power is turned ON, the troubleshooting guide indicates that there is too much water in the dishwasher. (One of the pot symbols on the display flashes continuously to show this indication.) I am unable to switch between programs, e.g., from quick rinse to pots & pans. I cleaned all the filters to no avail. I had to secure the circuit breaker in order to turn the dishwasher off.

I likely has a flood proof circuit in the bottom. It is sensing water in the bottom pan an has gone into pump out thinking it is leaking. Check for water under the dishwasher in the pan bellow. If there is you will have to find where it is leaking from.

Turn it off at power point or fuse box. Contact service agent.

there is a water level sensor in the bottom of the machine if this is faulty and stays on, this will indicate to the pump there is water still in the machine. I would check this sensor it might be blocked with debris and has blocked in the closed position. that woudl be the best start for this issue.

Hi, this could be a bad control board or a bad motor. It uses the same motor to wash as to drain. It just changes the direction of the motor in order to switch from drain to wash.
You'll need to run a cycle and you will need a multimeter to check which one needs to be replaced. Remove the kick panel and check the grey wire to the ground wire when it should be washing. If you have 120 volts, you need to order and replace your control board. Otherwise, if you don't have power and it's still draining, you need to order and replace the motor.

more than likely the door saftey switch is broken, check your owners manual

Hi this problem is the soil sensor. Basically the dishwasher will continue washing or add time to the wash if it thinks the dishes are still dirty. You will need to replace the soil sensor normally located on or by the drain pump. Mike

You probably have a leak, in the pump housing area below the unit, which is causing the drain pump to run continuously.

disconnect the hose and run it into a bucket, is it pumping freely?.

did you check the trap for a blockage?

If I'm not mistaken, these dishwashers are built by Asko for Viking. If thats the case then you probably have a bad circulation pump. Under Asko's warranty (not sure if Viking is the same) these pumps are covered parts and labor for 3 years from installation date, and 5 years for the part only. The pump is accesed from the back of the machine,so you have to pull out the dishwasher. Then you remove the lower plate in the rear and the motor at the very back center is the pump. You remove it by turning it about a 1/4 turn either clockwise or counter clockwise, depending on the style, then place the new one in and turn it to lock it in place, being careful that the sealing oring stays in place or youll get a leak. The part will probably cost you around $150 unless viking marks theirs up more than Asko. Good Luck!
