Mystery Text Message Sent From My Phone

A couple weeks ago around 7:30 in the morning my boyfriend received a text message that said it was sent from me. Problem is, I did not send him that text message. I was home alone so no one else would have sent that text from my phone either. I have verizon and I talked to their technical help line and they said they don't even have any records of that text being sent. It didn't come from verizons v-text website either. My boyfriend saved the text so I know he received it, but we have no idea where it came from. It is pretty freaky because it definitely says it came from me and my cell phone number. Here's the reason why I'm trying to find out how this was possible and why it happen, if the text was sent from me, it would imply that I was cheating on my boyfriend so this whole thing was quite a headache when it happened. I do have an ex that has been in the cell phone industry for almost ten years, so I wonder if he somehow sent it. Or maybe somehow somebody's text got lost and for some reason got sent to my boyfriend? I've never had this happen, nor have I ever heard of this happening. Please help. Verizon couldn't tell me anything.... they were clueless.

Yeah it just seems weird to me that there could be a mistake like that where someone would have chubby fingers and accidentally send it. What are the odds that they accidentally put in both my number and my boyfriends. I don't know maybe... That's why Im on here. I am absolutely clueless about all this cell phone technology. My ex is a little unstable. He didn't want us to break up. The last time I talked to him (little over a year ago) he was still upset about it. Wouldn't put it past him to do something like this. At this point I'm wondering if it would just be the best the change my number...

My cell was getting and sending texts that I had nothing to do with. I have no idea how this has happened and it really bothers me. The number that is texting me and that shows I reply also shows up on bill as incoming calls that last up to 9 min but I don't really get those calls. I am the only person who uses my cell. WTF. Like I said the really odd part is that it shows replies in my reply box. The persons phone number is local and is through verizon.

same issue happened today. wife and I use Tracfone prepaid. She got text message today from my phone # (that was incriminating in a sexual tone) but I had 0 minutes on my phone at the time and could not send any text. There is no log of this text in my Outbox and carrier gives same "no record of texts is kept". How do I clear my name on this?

    hey there....
i just happened to look at my fiance's phone yesterday and it said he had sent a text to this chick .. (yes it was a BAD text too).. he claims he never sent it..but i told him what are the odds that of all the people in your cell phone list, it would go to her..and more so, the odds that it would just happen to be a BAD text.. yeah ok..  so we are breaking up..  i don't think it's possible that can happen and i'd be a complete idiot to believe that this text was mysteriously sent

Someone who knows cell phone network tricks is trying to ruin your relationship. How is your relationship with your ex?

  • Anonymous May 11, 2010

"if the text was sent from me, it would imply that I was cheating on my boyfriend", how so? was it an incriminating text msg? I know there are some web sites that allow you to send texts directly from the website to a mobile device. Maybe someone had chubby fingers and hit the wrong key on keyboard.

Have you checked the time of the message? It is possible that you may have accidentally sent it by pressing a button. Maybe you text in your sleep :0

Very easy....your phone is Cloned....your ex has been in the cell phone field for 10 years or so, he has the know how. Pay attention to this, does your phone ever hang-up on you by itself? Like if you hd press the end button? Or it would ring and no one is at the other end?

Best Solution: Get another phone...tell the VZW rep about this. They might replace for free....because this would show their service/network's enferiority.

Alt. Solution: Find someone with my experience and fight fire with fire. Clonning is a FEDERAL crime!

With the new phone, do not let it out of your possession again. All this person needs is the ESN on the back of your phone, your phone number and the MIN number...and you will be back to square one trying to justify with you currnent man.

I am having this same issue and it has turned into something serious since accusations have been made against my boyfriend that he is now a pedifile due to some text messages sent to my neice! I have contacted t-mobile and they have a team of experts investigating this. Talk about twisting your mind! I never imagined that someone could send texts messages and it looks like it came from you how can you argue that you didn't do it when the text messages tie you to it? I wouldn't have believed it if I didn't see it myself.

That sucks for people that it made look like they were up to something. Mine just made me confused. My boyfriend called me asking what dq ment. I said I don't know Darry queen I guess. He said he got a text from me, witch I looked at and it's on my phone that reads"nope...never had this guy in any of my dq". I didn't send it. I'm not to surprised things like this can happen though, wit such reliance on a tecknology that like everything else is hack able.

Well, I don't know what's really happening in the above cases; however, yesterday I received a text message from my husband, and we had spent the whole day together. He said that he didn't send it. It was an innocuous message. Today we called Verizon and told them what happened. They said that it was a delayed text message, and that because my hubby hadn't updated some sort of profile (you have to do it every four months), that would have been the cause. Makes better sense than hackers, but then it wasn't anything wierd like above . . . Good luck.

Text messaging issues

I had the same problem with my new Blackjack 2, I could receive txts, but my friends would not receive the ones I sent. To fix it, I put a + in front of the number. and added the 1 before the area code. so their numbers looked like this +1(areacode)number. now they get them. Others had to do a hard reset of their Blackjacks, but it worked.
