When using wire in car, Garmin won't turn on, it starts, shows a low battery sign and shuts down. Was working fine on recent trip. It seems no power is reaching GPS. Nuvi 765T

Most likely the fuse in the charger plug has blown. The plug that goes into the cigarette lighter socket has a ring near the end. On most chargers it's silver but some of them are black. If you unscrew this ring the plug comes apart. Be careful not to lose any parts. You'll see the fuse in there. Replace it and it should be ok.
The other possibility is that the cigarette lighter socket is not working. You can check that easily enough by trying something else in it.

Sounds like the charge wire to the GPS is faulty.
Have you tried charging it at home with a USB lead ?

try plugging it in to the usb port on your computer, then if it starts, install the batteries.

if you did not get a usb cord with your gps, pretty much any usb to mini usb cord will work.

Recently when returning from a trip my C550 giving keptme the message "satellite unable to locate" (not the exact words) This went on for a week or more but suddenly started locating me from the satellite....

Low battery power is generally r4esponsible for loss of signal or low signal. Charge itr fully before use and plug into car power source ONLY AFTER staring the engine so as to avoid spike deamage. The car charger cannot fully charge the battery it is justn sufficient to maintain a level of charge . If the battery gets too low it cannot maintain a constant signal.

Garmin 260 now failing to charge and shuts itself down

If the unit is only a year old? then I would suspect that the charger has a problem that has damaged your battery. Do you use an external power continuously?

Try a different charger or if you have a meter make sure the charger is putting out close to the specs on it. Try using the usb cable to charge it.

The low battery and shutting off are typical of a battery that won't/can't hold a charge. That is typical after 2-3 years plus but not one year. It can also be indicitive of the charging circuit needing to be reset. The problem is it needs to be started and run long enough for it to recognize the reset command. To do this, hold your finger on the bottom right corner of the screen while powering the unit, until it asks if you want to reset it. That might get you running.

While I would be suprised at the battery going out within a year or so it is not unheard of. You may have to replace the internal battery pack. The unit is new enough your only source is probablly going to be Garmin. They might replace the battery under warrenty or out (if you talk nice).

Garmin C340 Street Pilot

I had the same problem. Found out that the fuse had blown in the power cord. I bought a new fuse from radio shack and have not had the low battery since.

Replace battery sign in New canon A590si camera.

You're using the wrong batteries. You need to purchase lithium batteries. They are quality batteries for high powered, battery operated electronics. Personally, I have a battery charger and use rechargable duracell batteries. (HR6/ DC1500/ NiMH/ 1,2V) Gives you approximately 16 hrs before having to recharge.

Unit shut down

I have run into the same problem and it may be related to the WAAS (Wide Area Augmentation System) feature. Try disabling this feature (under MAIN MENU / Setup). I used this receiver overseas (Asia and Europe) last year for 35 days straight with no problems. During this time WAAS was disabled as none of these satellites are visible overseas. The problem occurred intermittently prior to the overseas trip, and has reoccurred after returning. I was running into the same problem this past weekend and noticed the screen blanking out (with the vertical line) shortly after differential corrections were applied to the GPS signals. I disabled the WAAS and let the receiver run for over an hour. The problem did not return. Hope this helps.

Issues with new Garmin

Try pushing the reset button and charging again. If that doesn't work I think you've got a defective unit. Contact the seller and sendit back for a trade.

Garmin nuvi won't turn on

folks, the garmins have an on-board battery that needs to be powered up (at least occasionally) via the usb port - like from your computer. just using the dc car power cord does nothing for this battery. i've had this exact same problem on both my 760 and 780 nuvi units. fixed it using the usb charge. seems to run down differently for all the various nuvi models. my regular charge will hold for 7 hours on my old 660, my 760 and 780 work about 5 hours. my 'power up' failed on the 660 after 10 months with no internal battery charge, but the 7xx models only took about 5-6 months to 'fail.' hope this helps. jack b :-) in midland, tx usa

Garmin GPS 12 suddenly turns off

Stay clear of rechargeable NiCads as they supply to low voltage and you may experience cutouts ? Use good quality regular alkaline batteries. Check battery terminals in gps (both ends) for corrosion/rust and clean if necessary.

Garmin c340 gps freezes up

Avoid buying Garmin GPS. Their units have a non user replaceable battery that last about 2 years. After that, you have to send the unit to Garmin to replace the battery and be hit with at least $150 plus shipping. Possibly more if they need to fine tune something else. Look at other brands with easier battery replacement such as Sony, Navigon, etc. Garmin is a total rip off.
