I purchased a stove and fridge from frigidaire in june and am having a hard time to fix the temperature in the freezer. Ice cream is so cold that you would have to use a hack saw to get some. Please tell me where I should set the temperature in the freezer. Also it runs so long all the time. Sometimes even when I open the door and close it it starts to run sometimes it runs for 3-4 hrs. Please help me as this is very annoying. Thank you.

Make sure you set the temperature on or a little past normal.

If the frost build up is on the back panel of the freezer then it has a defrost problem which causes a no cool situation. Let me know more about this frost buildup and what you have done.

One thing you can do is clean out the area under the ice box where the condenser coils are located. Make sure the fan motor is blowing under there. Clean the kickplate. Get the air restrictions out of the fins and that may bring the freezer temp back up to par.

your house may be settling and now the refrigerator needs to be tiloted back slightly. take run the adjusters on the front in a little until the doo closes by it self.

This is not an adjustment issue, this is a malfunction issue. If you have a thermometer that you can place in the freezer, as opposed to any temperature readings from the freezer itself, your temps would normally be around 0 degrees F. At the warmest freezer settings, you should be around 10 degrees, which would make your ice cream very scoopable. I would contact the store you purchased it at or Samsung for a refrigerator repair service as soon as possible before they tell you its no longer covered under warranty.

1) Are the temperature readings you give measured with a thermometer, or just the temperature settings you set the freezer and refrigerator for?
2) Ice cream "stays frozen, but not hard", I'm not quite sure I understand you point. Ice cream will usually stay solid enough in a refrigerator/freezer to be easily dip able. Frozen hard is not normally good as you can't dip it. Please confirm what yu are wanting.

Make sure the compressor fan is not rubbing against anything and there is proper air flow to cool the compressor. Remove all dust. Also make sure you don't keep too much food in the freezer to inhibit the circulation of cold air.

The problem is a defrost problem. The freezer coil has frost on it and thus restricts the cold air from flowing. This affects the refrigerator as it gets its cold air from the freezer. The ice will not make if the temperature is above 12*F and this also is why ice cream is like mush.

Freezing problem
I think you mean that milk freezes, etc.

Probably bad thermocouple. In the refrigerators I'm familiar with, there is a thermocouple thermostat in the freezer. There is no measuring of refrigerator temperature; it just gets a portion of the cold freezer air.

If the thermostat is bad, then ice cream should be rock hard too, for it never quits cooling except on defrost cycle, three times per day.

The turn dial that controls your fridge temp also controls the freezer temp. The freezer air is directly forced into the freezer compartment and then sent to the reigerator. Adjust the dial for the fridge not to be so cold and it will adjust the feezer also. Allow about 24 hours for any noticeable change.
