Charge an iPod Nano Without a Charger
If you've misplaced or broken the charger that came with your iPod Nano, you might think you need to purchase a new one in order to continue using your Mp3 player.

Plug the iPod USB cable into the bottom of your iPod.
Plug the other end of the iPod USB cable into a free USB port on your Mac or PC computer.

Open the iTunes program by clicking on the icon in the Dock on a Mac or using the Start menu on a PC.
Click on the name of your iPod under the "Devices" heading in the main iTunes window.
Click on the "Sync" button to synchronize your iPod with your computer data.
While the iPod is syncing, the power from the USB port on your computer will charge your iPod's battery.

Unplug your iPod from the computer once the battery is fully charged.

Open iTunes and select the Nano.
Uncheck Open iTunes when connecting this iPod.

Don't have iTunes open when the iPod is connected.

Well if you bought it off of ebay or some other internet site you might have bought a clone ipod that only syncs with windows media player, but if you bought it from a certified Apple reseller than I dont think I know. goodluck !

While it is plugged into the computer and charging, it should say something like, battery very low, charging. It should work after letting it sit plugged up to the computer.

Put it on autosync or tick all the box's songs you want and manually press sync button on the right bottom corner.

i had this problem a little bit ago... the problem is that the ipod is not recognizing any firewire activity which is a problem that the apple store with fix and give you a new referbished ipod
