Dryer was working fine. Still runs, tumbles, etc, but all of a sudden, no heat. Only 2 yrs old. Cleaned vent and lint filter. Is it likely a hi limit switch (if so, can it be reset or does it need to be replaced) or a heat element?

Grundig Tumble dryer model GTN 38240 GCW It is taking ages to dry clothes and does not get as hot as it used to.

If your Grundig tumble dryer is taking a long time to dry clothes and not getting as hot as it used to, there are a few things you can check:
  1. Clean the lint filter: A clogged lint filter can prevent proper airflow and cause the dryer to take longer to dry clothes. Make sure to clean the filter before every load.
  2. Check the vent hose: Make sure the vent hose is not kinked or clogged. A blocked vent hose can also cause the dryer to take longer to dry clothes.
  3. Check the heating element: A faulty heating element can cause the dryer to not get as hot as it should. You can test the element with a multimeter to see if it is working properly.
  4. Check the thermostat: A faulty thermostat can also prevent the dryer from getting hot enough. You can test the thermostat with a multimeter to see if it is working properly.
If you have checked all of the above and the issue persists, it may be best to contact a professional appliance repair technician for further diagnosis and repair.

The tumble dryer bip and flash "empty water" even if no water. I have cleaned every filter (2 inside the big filter at the bottom of the tumble dryer) but still have the trouble

Hi,

I want to first make sure that your dryer is serviced up. so i want you to do these steps.
Most of the problems will be resolved doing these......

As clothes are tumble dried, they drop fibres. Most of this fluff is trapped by the lint filter and this needs to be checked and cleaned regularly. Lint also builds up in the vent pipe and around the electric motor in the rear of the dryer.

1.clean lint filter
989c696.jpg
Wait until the dryer cools, open the door and lift out the lint filter.
Gently brush off lint using your fingers.
On many models, the filter may also be washed. Check your manual for instructions.
If the filter is damaged in any way, you should replace it.

2.Vacuum area where lint filter sits:

The area where the lint filter sits should be vacuumed .
Remove the lint filter, and use a narrow vacuum nozzle to remove dust and lint from the fitting.

3.Clean inside the tumble dryer:

1. Make sure the dryer is cool, switch it off and unplug it.
2. Unscrew the retaining screws on the back panel, and lift it off. Vacuum the blower area.
3. Also vacuum around the vent pipe connection.
4. Replace the back panel and refit all the screws.

4.Check tumble dryer vent hose:
8d2299a.jpgWait for the dryer to cool. Unplug the vent hose and inspect its entire length for snags in the pipe.
Make sure the vent is not obstructed on the outside wall, and fit a flap or screen to keep out small animals.
If your vent pipe is punctured or damaged, you should replace it.

To avoid dryer problems,
Make sure the dryer is level and does not rock, and consult the manufacturer's instructions for the maximum weight of clothing to dry at one time. Also, make sure clothes have been spun-dry before putting them into the dryer.

This is just initial help,
Post your comments about how things turned up, Ill be giving suggestions based on your reply........

Thanx for using fixya,
Cheers.

My Kenmore Elite HE4 dryer keeps shutting off after a few minutes.

are u saying it shuts down or just stops heating? if it shuts down u may have bad motor windings and or brushes and motor is burning out if its stops heating that is usually due to bad moister sensor, cycling thermostat ( which would not usually shut appliance off though), short in heating element, defective hi limit thermostat etc and of course u already said u cleaned lint and ducts? including the blower? if its blocked with lint u have a shut off issue

The heating element is working on high heat and clothes are tumbling but after several cycles the clothes aren't dry. The lint trap has been cleaned out. Suggestions?

the ducting is clogged or at least partially clogged (most likely at an elbow).
Also check the vent itself where it exits the home for bird nests etc.
Lowes sells a nice kit for cleaning vents in the plumbing department. I have
used it and it works well. Please note that the dryer may also be clogged
inside just below the lint filter inside the door or if it has a top mounted
lint filter it would be the blower stack located in the back of the machine
Remember to shut off breakers before performing any service to the machine.

Whirlpool AWZ 7303 tumbling but not drying.

blower wheels will get loose in dryers. Sometimes they will get a whole lump of lint in them or you can hear a rattling noise in the dryer, this is the blower wheel, its worn out and it can cause the fuse to blow too,or it can half *** work and take fifty forever's to dry the clothes.Or it could be just that the dryer needs a good blowing out .I use a lawn blower to get all the lint out of the dryer as well as the vent pipe and vent to outside. I take the filter HOUSING out and wash it also. That is, I remove the housing and clean is good! Making sure that the dryer is properly flowing air is a good thing!

Hi the my filter light keeps flashing and iv got no heat!

My guess is that the heater element has gone out. There could also be a lint clog in the exhaust vent...it takes air out through the filter...across the heater element....and back through the tumbler to heat the clothes. This is usually what causes heat elements to go out is the excess lint that gets on them and causes them to overheat and burn out!

My Kenmore Elite dryer spins with no heat

please check the thermal cutoff. these are the parts with 2 thick wires attached to it. they are normally located near the heating element ( if electrical ) and (near the exhaust if it is gas).

these parts control the heating element.

tnx 4 using fixya,

Dryer not heating

Common faults -
1 The heating elements can fail (meaning open circuit)
2 There are cut-outs (T.O.C's) that might need resetting
3 The thermostats (stats) can trip out or burn out (meaning opencircuit)
4 Moderntumble dryers also have sensors and pcb's (Printed circuitboards) thesehave programs that can fail and circuitry although most should produce an errorcode showing you were the fault is.
5 Faultyconnections and burned wires may also be the fault.

Dryer takes longer

You need four things, each in the right amount to effectively dry clothes: Heat, Airflow, Tumbling and Time. The first two account for probably 90% of dryer problems. It looks like you almost ruled out #2 but this design likes to build lint up in the filter housing below the filter. Shine a strong light down into the slot where the filter goes. Pick out any clumps with a refrigerator coil brush and a vacuum. To rule out not enough airflow due to long vent etc. run one load through with the vent totally disconnected and see if it makes a difference. Otherwise we'll asssume the drum tumbles and that you're setting it for enough time. Check the temperature is left. You can get a rough idea of the drum temp by using a meat thermometer in the exhaust duct. Normal range is between 140-200 degrees.
