What model do you have. I an older NR83A2 with now adjuster welded a nut to the foot/shoe you depress to fire and installed a screw/bolt you can use to adjust depth. I used a bolt 1/4-20 with dead down as to limit damage to material your nailing in to (fence boards / siding). Before I used to lower the air pressure to the gun via the compressors regulator output. Hope this helps
I have a older Hitachi 3 1/2 full roundhead nailer and on my there is a button on the front below the head at the end of the nails that you push sideways and hold and slide the nail gun tip up or down. There should be grooves across the front of the tip.
The depth to which a fastener is driven is controlled by the depth adjustment
knob (A) Fig. 19 below. The depth of drive is factory adjusted to a nomimal setting.
Test fire a fastener and check depth. If
a change is desired, rotate the
adjustment knob (A) Fig. 19: the
adjustment knob has detents every 1/4
turn. Rotate the knob clockwise (see
Fig. 19), to increase the depth of drive,
rotate the knob counterclockwise to
decrease the depth of drive. Test fire
another fastener and check depth.
Repeat as necessary to achieve
desired results. The amount of air pressure required will vary depending on the
size of the fastener and the material being fastened. Experiment with the air
pressure setting to determine the lowest setting that will consistently perform
the job at hand. Air pressure in excess of that required can cause premature
wear and/or damage to the tool.
Good Luck
