The default connection is usually HDMI 1. The possibility of the cable being defective, or the box sending a signal out need to be determined.

Set up your connections, then turn on your TV.

Try using different HDMI hookups.

Bring a different video source to get the TV to display.

See if you can bring up the TV menu to select an input to connect to.

Pioneer 5060hd no picture from cable box with hdmi on input 1&3, normal function with hdmi from xbox. Checked cable box, it works well with other tv. Any help to diagnose the problem

I assume that you enabled hdmi ports within settings.
I would connect box to another TV and within settings in box make sure that box outputs either 720p or 1080i.
Your TV doesn't accepts 1080p .

Sony tv no picture on screen

Hello, You probably hit the input button by mistake. If your using cable TV your input setting will depend on how the TV is connected. If your using an HDMI cable check to see what number HDMI the cable is plugging into on the back of your tv and then set the input button to the same port number. If your tv is connected with RCA cables (red, blue, green) Then hit the input to AV.

New 50" hisense tv .. unable to use hdmi for cable box .. tried different cables and all 3 hdmi outlets on tv ????

There might be a setting on your cable box for audio output. Use the cable remote and look in the audio section of the settings menu and select HDMI output. Mine is under Audio Digital Output in the Audio/Video menu.

I want to connect my cable box to my newly bought toshiba plasma

Is your cable box HD? It would be best for your tv. You can hook up a couple of ways depending on your receiver and tv in/out capabilities. You will always get best picture if you go directly from your cable box out to tv in. You should have capabilty to go HDMI out and perhaps Component out on your cable box. If you can't get hd receiver from cable company. Anyway, if you use HDMI, hook to HDMI out on receiver to HDMI in on tv. HDMI provides audio and video. You can also go componenet(red, blue, green) out from recevier to in on tv. I personally feel component gives you better picture but , doesn't carry audio. For that you need to get audio using either digital optical or, composite cables. You may have to set your HD on receiver through cable boxes menu. The last option is using composite cables(last choice, poorest picture and sound) yellow(video) and red, white(audio)

LC-26DA5U 26 in. HDTV-Ready LCD Television: i connect a hdmi cable 2 my hd cable box - the pic...

The cable box needs to be set to send different signals when using hd tv and standard tv. Usually a good setting would be 720p in hd and 480p in standard. The tv is working fine it is the cable box sending the signal. If you have another hdmi source such as a dvd player you may hook that up to show the tv is working just fine.

The HDMI doesn't work properly

HI

The resolution is only set by the sending unit, in your case the cable box. You need to change this to at least 720P something the your TV can handle.

Now once you have down this, to try and solve your HDMI problem I suggest you do the following.

Switch-off your cable box and the TV set, unhook the HDMI cable.

Now reinsert it carefully to make sure it connects properly on both sides.

Now first switch on your TV and set the input to Video 6 ( your HDMI channel )

Now wait for 30 secs. Switching on your cable box.

Do not press anything and check if your picture now stays on without shut-down.

if the menu and other startup screens on the cable box is not flickering, but the normal picture you might have a HDMI conflict with your TV set.

O, you cannot change the input types.

Hope this helps!

Normal Picture Mode Not Available With Cox HD-DVR (Motorola DCH3416) and HDMI Cable

With an HDMI cable connected, the cable box determines the picture size. The settings on the cable box must be changed in order for you to get the correct picture size. I have some experience with Motorola cable boxes; usually to access the settings you turn the box OFF and then press the menu or settings button on the box to bring up the display menu. Hope this helps!
