My scanner is not being recognized by my PC. I have been using a Windows XP PC to support my slide and negative scanning. The scanner was last operational in the spring of 2010. Several months later when I tried to use it I started receiving cannot find the hardware type messages. I have changed USB cords and tried to connect it to two other PCs and none of them recognize the scanner when attached and then turned on. I have tested both USB cords and connection points on other USB devices and they are not the problem. I believe something has happened to the USB connector within the scanner. I value your thoughts and/or input on how to get it fixed.

Try right clicking on the unit , click on properties, click on compatibility, tick box click on win xp, apply and ok
next click on details , drivers , update drivers
it will be a communication problem that has occurred in the programs between the scanner and the winxp operatibg system

SOURCE: Nikon Scan doesn't recognize scanner

You need to check that the ASPI drivers are loaded, otherwise it will not work. The LS-2000 works with Adaptec ASPI v4.71. These drivers do not come with the Nikon product.

SOURCE: dell laptop wont recognize ls2000 scanner

The LS-2000 is a "legacy" device to XP and the Nikon software. It needs to be connected to a true SCSI bus adapter, and it's actually pretty finicky about which ones will work in XP. Sorry, you won't be able to use this with your laptop.

SOURCE: nikon scan was unable to find any active devices

The LS2000 is older than XP and has some fairly tight requirements to work. The recommended SCSI adapter is an Adaptec 2906, and you will probably need to backrev the ASPI layer driver files to version 4.7 (available on adaptec.com site). You may need to boot in Safe Mode to remove the later versions of the ASPI files before you can install the 4.7 files. You will also need to update your Nikon Scan software to version 3.1.2, available online by googling "nikon scan 3.1.2".

SOURCE: I am using a Nikon

try to see if the scanner is present in the device manager and if it is ,,to be installed and not in yellow,,
if a driver for windows wasn't provided it means that the driver is included in the software ..so try to update it and be sure that it is the one suitable for the operation system you use..
Here is the support site where you can check and read all trouble shooting issues that may occur ...
http://www.nikonusa.com/Service-And-Support/index.page
cause the error specifies that it is a hardware related error ..I think that it worth to go to bios of the pc...and activate the feature called optimal factory defaults...and after that save all changes by pressing F10
The thing that I try to underline is that may be a problem with a disabled bus...if it uses a firewire..or another like thi s..and the action will enable all buses if they were disabled by default or ..by other causes..

Driver for 5470c scanner will not work with windows 7

Hi ,
Scanjet 5470c does'nt work under W 7 . No drivers available .
Here are a few hints :
1° hint :
Do not connect scanner .
Load XP driver ( yes , XP) , reboot , connect scanner and wait for confirmation of successfull operation .

Reboot .
Dowload and install FreeKapture ( yes , it's free ) from http://download.cnet.com/FreeKapture/3000-2094_4-10673689.html
Open Freekapture , clic on Scan and select WIA-Hewlett-Packard . Scanjet 4470c works fine in this mode but if you choose HP PrecisionScan Pro , program will hang .
In any case , no slides or negatives scans possible but the rest works .
2° hint :
If you have the W XP install disc , you could install a virtual version of W XP on your HDD ( http://downloads.vmware.com/d/info/desktop_downloads/vmware_player/3_0 ) You could also partition your HDD ( http://www.partitionwizard.com/free-partition-manager.html ) and install W XP on the new one . Regards .

Please, how do I install my flatbed mercury scanner 1200cu+. I cant find my installations disk

I found an Windows XP driver here: http://www.mercury-pc.com/download_file.php?option=file&item_id=2870. The documentation for the Mercury KOB 1200cu+ scanner indicates support for Win 98se/Me/2000/XP. On a newer Windows OS, it may not work but you can try and see if a generic scanner driver installs when you plug it into the computer. If it is recognized, scan using Windows Fax and Scan (File, Import from Scanner) or Paint (Import from Camera or Scanner).

I hope this helps.

HP Scanjet 5470c

Try carefully taking the scanner apart and cleaning it out. A buildup of dust, even a thin layer can greatly reduce the quality of your scans.

Konica Minolta Dimage Scan Dual IV won't scan slides properly

Forget about the Minolta software. It's buggy at best. Use VueScan instead. A free trial is available so you can test it before you commit to buying it. Available for Windows including Vista.

Scanning negatives

Are you saying
The scanner worked with negative with XP but not with Vista?
Uf so this is a drver problem
Two thing to try- 1, Go to Programs/Accessories/system Tools Compatability Wizard and rest to XP then try.
Or 2 Google for suitable Vista Driver

Nikon Scan doesn't recognize scanner

I have the same problem (on XP, Nikon Scan 3.1.2) ... IF I turn the scanner on before the computer (or turn the scanner on and then reboot) then Nikon Scan recognizes it. Can't say I'm happy with the solution, but it works consistently for me.
