SOURCE: Have slow downloading and slow internet tv buffering system

Do as I did. I installed a Trigabit of RAM to my PC or a Giga Bit will do.It has to do with what your PC has in it now. If it is fairly new (say 6-7 years old) then you most likey have 512mb of RAM. For videos which have to buffer you need more speed out of your computer itself not HD memory RAM memory sticks!! You can get a GB stick for only about $12.99 at Staples or maybe Wal Mart. They have been having these type hardware parts here in the past year.
You'll Get It!!

SOURCE: My computer (3 years old) has gotten really slow

1) Download and install a programme called Ccleaner from Filehippo.com.
a) run the cleaner - gets a load of web rubbish off your pc you
didn't know you had.
b) From the menu on the left, select startup, delete all programmes out
of your startup menu except for antivirus and firewall programmes.

2) Disconnect all power, get a natural bristle paint brush and hoover
and, carefully, clean out all the dust and fluff from your pc. (over
heated cpu's step down in speed)

3) Add more ram if still necessary. go to the "Crucial" web site, enter
the details of you pc. Tells you what kind of ram and how much your
PC can run. Bear in mind XP can only use a maximum of 3Gb. You
don't have to buy from here, if you decide just use the info.

When I select a movie the small circle just keeps running and movie never starts

Computer needs a cleaning or it is your internet connection or provider. Go and check your internet speed by typing Internet speed test in your browser and test to see how fast or slow your internet is running. If the internet is slow it will most likely run movies slow online and we call this buffering witch we all hate but it is do to slow computer or an upgrade needs to be done threw your internet provider.. Good luck hope this helped....

What does queue mean, it comes up on movies ?

tcp/ip protocol uses a try to send one packet and then check if it got received ok
then it will send two packets and check
then it will send four packets and check
then it will send eight packets and check
you get the picture 8,16,32,64,128,256,512,1024,2048,4096, error ok lets resend one packet and check
2,4,8,16,32,64,128,256,512,1024,2048
so if no errors occur the packets sent increase rapidly. However if there is an error it goes back to one packet.
Now this is not really a problem if say you were downloading a file but if you are watching a time dependent streamed movie this might slow down to a point where the movie would stop . So the media player software buffers the data. It downloads a quantity into memory and then when the buffer is full it starts playing the movie. However if you get errors or a slow bandwidth of data it has to queue while it restores data into the now empty buffer memory and might sto pplaying the movie while it does this.

When watching movies on Netflix, they will sometimes freeze up. Sometimes they will start up and sometimes they won't.

Could just be something as simple as slow internet connection at that time. Netflix does require a buffer of a certain amount of time in the show before it starts, or plays. If the memory buffer empties below that point, the show will freeze until it is back up above that point. I'd check to ensure your internet is operating at the minimum for nextflix when you're playing the show.
One tip would be to ensure that if it's happening, that nothing else is trying to connect to the internet and that no downloads are occurring.

How to stop buffering

  • 1 Allow the movie to load completely, or at least halfway, before you start to watch it to stop video buffering.
  • 2 Start the movie and then hit stop until the movie has fully or halfway loaded. As the movie is loading, you should see a yellow or gray line. The line you see will get longer as it loads.
  • 3 Close all windows that you don't need. Having too many windows open will slow the loading process.
  • 4 Resume play once the movie is at least halfway loaded or fully loaded. By this time, you should be able to enjoy the movie without the video buffering or constant starting and stopping.

I have a Belkin router, and a decent internet connection. However, whenever I try to watch video online (e.g. Youtube, or BBC i-player), the connection is very slow, and seems to stop every few seconds. ...

Wait. Play a little (to start the buffer), then pause the video manually for a few minutes (to allow the buffer to fill).

It ain't the router's fault.

Modern browser-plugin streaming client video players (e.g., Silverlight) need some time with your internet connection to learn your best-available resolution and how much to buffer. After a while, it will improve "all by itself."

After several minutes or so of consistent throughput, some players will upgrade your resolution. You'll see the movie suddenly get sharper.

Another tip: Friday evenings and Saturday nights the traffic is heavy and so the internet is slow. Sunday mornings you'll get better throughput.

When I go to play a video It will play for a few seconds, stop, than play and it continues to do so.. what do I need to do to fix this problem?

This might be due to a slow internet connection. See, for smooth playback, the part of the movie your computer wants to show has to be downloaded already - it has to be "buffered". If you have a slow internet connection, the speed at which your computer can download a movie might be slower than the actual time it takes to watch what's being downloaded. That's why your movie will stop, wait until another part of it has been buffered, and then recommence.

Um...Note:

Watching videos online will be dependent on your Broadband speed. If the speed slow down, you will experience a lot of buffering that affects the quality or delayed Video feed. I advise to close other programs that uses the internet so the Internet speed will not be divided while viewing videos online

Problem with Video

Have you been able to watch videos on YouTube prior to this without any hassle?
There are a couple of diagnosis to this situation:-
1. you are downloading or have other programs using your internet bandwith which is causing the buffer to slow right down.
2. your internet speed has dropped due to shaping or even a reduce in plan rate.

When watching a video press pause and let the movie buffer then you will be able to watch the video with out the frame jumps.
