Firmware is the software which is installed on your MP3-player.
A driver is a little piece of software which enables your computer to communicate with the MP3-player.

I don't know if you have the manual for the player, but you can find it here. Go to chapter Connection to Computer
And read Connecting the player to your PC first. Other parts of the chapter explain how to install multimedia studio and other things.

If you get your player to be recognized by your computer and software, format the player, as explained in Formatting in PC
