Have you ever cleaned and lubricated the brew group?

You remove the tray and set it aside - then push to the right the plastic bar that says "press" and pull out the brew group. It comes out as a complete unit. You can rinse it under the sink - turn it over and rinse off the filter disk and rinse off any coffee grinds that may be stuck all over in the mechanism. Do not use detergent, do not put in the dishwasher. Just rinse it off really well.

The mechanism should be lubricated with food safe lubricant after about 500 coffees. There are two sets of tracks that are the main thing to lubricate. You can get the food safe silicon grease at any of the espresso shops like wholelattelove or seatle coffee gear etc. etc.

If the brew group moves freely after you have cleaned it, you need to make sure it is the home position - the round well with the black plastic shower screen at the bottom should be centered under the funnel that the coffee grinds drop into - and on the front face, below the "press" bar there is a round bushing with two arrows that show be pointing at each other showing that it is lined up in home position ready to be reinserted into the machine.

No matter what I do the Gaggia Titanium espresso machine reads brewunit missing;. This is what I did: I removed the brewunit of the machine to clean it, and reset the N to the correct position on the front...

HI
If the brew unit is in the wrong position when inserted you can knock the lever off the microswitch in the back. If the lever is knocked off you will never get the brw unit miss message to go away. You will have to take the machine apart and replace the lever on the microswitch. Sorry
We made a modification to the brew unit that would prevent this from happening. We modified all the brew units on the compact machines before sending them out so we would never get them back for this reason.

Screen says brewunit blocked. Brewunit seems clear but stops in wrong position, ie not 'home' any ideas? Thanks

Hi If you remove the brew unit and put everything back with out it the brew unit. Turn th machine on and see if it will cycle? Open the door and look in the back where the brew unit was. There is a cog in the back with teeth. There are 2 large teeth, and they should be at the 10 and 12:00 position roughly. If they are anywhere else you have a broken drive and need to get the gears replaced. If they are in the correct position check the front of the brew unit where the circles are. There are 2 diamonds and they should be pointing at each other. if they are not you need to bring them together with the key tool. Insert it into the center of the circles and turn until they line up, then put back into the machine, and see if it will work. If it still doesn't you have a bad board.

My brewunit is blocked

Coffee fines and mineral scale build up in the brew unit filters and also in the creme valve. The pressure to pump water through the unit fails and the flowmeter tells the electronics that no water has flowed, it in turn stops all processes and displays "brew unit blocked" message. If you're handy, call Miele tech support. The'll walk you through how to remove the drainage cup screw off the left rear of the brew unit, get the brew unit out and return the gearing to home position. It's a 50/50 chance the gears will return or you will need a service tech to pull your coffee unit out and re-sync the gears to the electronics. That's of course if they didn't break.
This blockage is is prevented only by using the cleaning tablets and descaling tablets. Both need to be used as outlined in the instruction manual.

Saeco vienna saying brewunit blocked !

Hi There is a test mode for the Digital and we can see if you have a bad power board. Turn the machine off in back. Push and hold the small coffee button and the menu button (top left) at the same time and while you are holding the buttons turn the machine on. Release the buttons and you should have numbers in the display. If you can push the bottom left button and the machine makes a sound like the motor is moving, turn it off and then back on. If you don't get the message now you should really clean and lube your brew unit.

BrewUnit Blocked Error

The brew unit sensor may have become disconnected from the main circuit board. If you are very brave, you can UNPLUG THE UNIT, remove the top panel and check that all the wires running into the circuit board are connected.

Otherwise, the sensor may have failed and this will require service.

Brew unit stuck

Hi molly girl.
You can try to clean your Brewunit. Most of the times when that message appears, it means the brewunit is dirty

You can have more info in the manual if you dont have it:

Brewunit block

kristijordan,

I had this error message on my machine and was able to take care of it by lubricating the brew unit with silicone. I small tube of silicone grease should have come with your machine. If not I found silicone grease at Aco Hardware (not in a tube) and applied it using a toothpick. Machine has been working great since.
