I use a 22 cal rifle laser on mine , the 22 is nearest the same diameter to the bolts I use so I can lay laser right into same bolt bed on frame that bolt normally rests in , then bench rest bow and get into shooting position then adj scope to bring crosshairs/ reddot onto laser dot at white target board , try to adj at distance you'd comfortably take a shot at

Not enough information. Is it consistent? Are you using the same ammunition? Distance? Rifle? Iron sights or Scope? etc.

If you are using a scope, it is possible that the scope is loose. If you are firing off-hand, it is probably you. If you are shooting at 1000 yards, you group is actually pretty good.

If you are benchresting your rifle, make sure you are not resting the rifle on the barrel, this can throw shots all over the place.

They are used to indicate elevation needed to hit your target at various ranges. The distances should be indicated in your owner's manual. For instance, if calibrated for .223 remington, and sighted in at 100 yards, the first might be 200 yards, the 2nd 300 yards, etc.

Iron sights should be ignored when mounting a scope. The scope line to the target will be slightly higher than the front sight. That's ok just site in the scope for the distance needed and your on you way.

You would sight in an air rifle scope in the same manner as any other standard scope that you might find on a rifle:

You want to secure the rifle as best you can with the sights pointed towards a target, which should be set at the desired distance.

Reduce the error of your sight adjustments either by mounting the rifle in a gun mount or simply resting the stock (not the barrel!) on a solid surface such as a table.

Make sure that the weight of the rifle is carefully supported and the **** is firmly pressed into your shoulder. Looking through the sights, aim at the very center of the target (which for your purposes can be as simple as a piece of paper with a dot drawn in the middle).

Take time to ensure a careful shot, and be sure to avoid any shaking, utilizing the support of the mount/table (try resting the fore-grip of the stock on a roll of paper towels if you're having trouble keeping the rifle steady).

Once you are confident with the placement of the cross-hairs over the center of the target, gently squeeze (don't pull) the trigger.

Determine where the pellet struck the target, and adjust the scope accordingly; while every scope is a little different, the same basic principles for adjustment apply. Unscrew the caps on the top and side of the scope, and carefully read the markings on the adjustment dials.

If the pellet struck low, twist the dial on the top of the scope 'up' (the markings should specify clockwise/counter), and if the pellet struck high, twist in the opposite direction. If the pellet struck to the left or right, follow the same procedure for the dial on the side of the scope.

If the pellet struck low and to the side, make the vertical (up/down) adjustments first, repeat the shot, and only move on to make adjustments left/right once the pellet strikes in vertical alignment with the center of the target.

Take your time, and adjust in increments of only 2-3 clicks to start. Repeat the procedure until the pellets are striking consistently in the center of the target (if you're having a hard time remembering which shot went where, replace the target and continue.

Once you are satisfied with placement of your shot groupings on the targets, replace the dial covers on the scope.

Tips and Notes:
- In order to maintain the accuracy of your rifle, try to avoid resting the rifle on its scope and try to prevent the barrel from contact.

- Take note of your rifle's range, and be aware that the further away you place the target, the less consistent your results will be.

- Be realistic; don't attempt to sight in an air rifle at 50 yards. Remember that even with a rifle that has been professionally sighted, good results still come down to the accuracy of the shooter.

-Sight in your rifle at a range where you are confident in your own abilities; start with a closer target and only move back (i.e. sight in at a greater distance) if necessary.

Because your glasses (prescription or reading) are configured to correct your "far" sighted vision deficiency. Even though the scope is located at a very close distance to your eye, the point your scope is focusing to/at is many? yards in the distance. If you're like many of us, you can see satisfactorily at a distance, but your arms aren't long enough to allow you to read a magazine?

You sight it in by firing at a target. Place the target at 100 yds distance if that is where you want it set for. Then you use the knobs to adjust the aiming point so the bullets strike where you place the crosshairs. This can involve a lot of shooting, and it is best to use a bench so you don't get confused by inaccurate handheld shots. Once sighted in, there may be other knobs to adjust for different distances or windage. These should be set to a central or neutral position while doing the initial siting, or maybe set to the distance you are siting in. My sights don't have such luxuries, so I am not sure how they work.

Sight in rifle.Put top(elevation)cap back on with the"0" facing back.Be careful not to make it "click"as this will change point of impact.The way this works is you aim at animal and adjust the power(3-9)until the animal's body is between the 2 lines.Look in the little window on eyepiece to see distance of selected animal.Then click top knob to the correct distance(200,300,etc.)This should raise bullet impact for that distance.I've had this scope on a .270 since 1980 and never used this feature.(I only bought it because the scope was on sale)

! click is 1 inch @ 100 yards, provided you have the correct scope for the rifle.
If you are sighting in a .22 LR 40 grain match velocity bullet for 100 yards, the mid range trajectory (50 Yards) is 6" higher. The bullet has a 6" arc half way to your target. If you are sighting in a .270 with 150 grain blunt tail bullets for 250 yards, the mid range trajectory is .4 higher. It only has 4/10" arc half way.
You most match the scope to the gun, and the 1 click= 1 inch rule will apply. Otherwise, it's lock it into a righd mount, fire it and adjust the scope accordingly. If you want to change the range on the scope, it will be guesswork.
I use a Bushnell Banner 3-9X40 with BDC. If you have BDC, make sure you have the correct distance ring in for the caliber.. It will make all the difference in the world.
