Turns on by itself and turntable does not rotate

Hi,
We have the microwave for 5 - 7 years.

1. The microwave just turns on by itself after we close the door, after using it. When we press the switch that opens the door it stops.
2. When we need to use it as soon as we close the door, the light turns on and we hear the buzzing sound even before we enter the heating time and press start. We have to press the switch on the door couple of times to make it stop.
3.When we enter the time for heating the food and press start,we hear the buzzing sound and the light is on but the timer does not start.Once we press the switch the light turns off and again we have to press start to heat the food.
All this happens erratically and we have not noticed any pattern.
Please let me know what could be the problem and if it is worth repairing the microwave.
Also the turntable is not turning.

Thank You,
Sudha

You may have a control board issue. Thank God for safety switches.
This is a problem that an integrated circuit tech. can repair, but it may be costly.
Decide how much you want to put into this oven vs. buying a new one.

Contact me once you decide and I can help you find a service center.

Thank you,

Dave E. (Illeagle)

LG LMV 1680 ST shows error AC-1 and will not heat. The turntable does not turn either. The exhaust fan still works and the control panel still responds. What does this code mean?

Check the fuse. Also check out the safety switch by the unit door. If not closed when door is closed, no power is applied to either the turntable or the tube.

My microwave turns on, turntable turns, just won't heat. the microwave is 6 years old. Is it wiser to bring in a repairman or just replace? there is a picture of the microwave by the timer window.

There are 2 fuses inside the cabinet. One is for the clock and turntable. The other is for the high voltage transformer and the microwave module. If this fuse is blown either the transformer is shorted or the module has failed to cause the fuse to blow. Parts and Labor can get close to the cost of a new one, so get an estimate so you can have information to make your decision

Magic chef microwave

Take the tray and the plastic piece the tray sits on out of the microwave. There is a small motor that turns the turntable. It is probably bad. You should be able to replace the motor from the bottom of the microwave. Part number is 3966820200.

Phillips microwave oven vt255/bl tuntable does not rotate

HELLO.

The turntable is the unit in the center of a microwave that you set your food on. It rotates during the microwave cycle, making sure all parts of a dish are properly heated. These are typically made of either hard glass or microwave-safe plastic.

Your microwave turntable may not turn due to one of these problems explain below

(1)If your turntable is removable (as many are for cleaning purposes), it may have come loose from this turning mechanism.place the turntable properl on the turning mechanism.

(2)If your turntable was previously working and now does not any longer, check the settings on your microwave's LCD display to make sure you haven't accidentally turned off the turntable.

Most microwaves have different settings that the user can select with the press of a button, like a "Defrost" setting or a "Popcorn" setting. Certain microwaves may stop the turntable from turning during certain pre-programmed selection modes. Stop your microwave and don't use a pre-programmed mode. Instead, just specify the time using the number pads and start your microwave to see if your turntable begins to rotate again.

(3)The rotating mechanism on the inside of your microwave that rotates the turntable is actually connected to a small motor on the inside of your microwave's case. If this motor burns out or stops working, the mechanism will stop turning. This is something that needs to be replace.

FOLLOW THESE STEPS TO REPLACE THE FAULTY MOTOR.

THINGS NEEDED.

* screwdrivers

* replacement motor

* specific microwave information and part number

1 Open the microwave door, and carefully remove the turntable tray. Also, remove the frame that the turntable is positioned on. Both the turntable and the frame are not secured in the oven, so removing them is a quick process.

2 Remove the bottom panel of the microwave. The Microwave Wizard website explains that the number of screws securing the panel varies depending on the manufacturer and specific microwave. Once the bottom panel is loosened, disconnect its wiring harness in order to completely remove the panel.

3 Locate the turntable motor. The Microwave Wizard website explains that the motor compartment should be positioned below the center of the microwave. Unscrew the motor, disconnect the wires, and remove it from the microwave.

4 Determine the specific part number for the turntable motor so that a correct replacement can be purchased or ordered. Position the new motor into the shaft in the bottom of the microwave. Screw the motor securely into place.

5 Test the microwave to make sure that the turntable motor is operating correctly. The Microwave Wizard website explains that the motor can make noises if it was not positioned evenly in the shaft. Reconnect all of the wires that were detached when removing the old motor.

6 Reinsthall the microwave's bottom panel parts, and secure all of the screws in place. Reposition the turntable frame in the bottom of the microwave and place the turntable on top of it. Test the microwave in order to make sure that everything is working correctly.

Thanks.

Hi our Haier HMW31AEDS microwave has the following problems. 1. It starts itself as soon as we shut the door. 2. The keypad does not work. 3. The only way to turn it off is to manually pull open the door...

I am 90% sure the running as soon as the door is closed is a bad door switch. This could possible explain all the issues with the unit. I would check that first

Turntable wheel under glass tray broken

If the microwave comes with a roller ring to rotate the glass turntable then I would recommend that it needs to be used when the microwave is operating, as the turntable rotates the food so it can be heated evenly.

I would recommend checking with your local Panasonic repairer he may have access to a new roller or even a second hand one to tide you over.

Turntable wont stop turning, even when not in use

The turntable is a seperate intenty from the microwave itself, I would presume that the switch that turns off the turntable when the door is opened needs replacement.

Microwave turntable won't turn

Most likely the turntable motor itself is bad - not an uncommon problem for that model.

Check with www.martinmicrowave.com (toll free 1-877-894-0035)

unfortunately, the particular motor used in your model is rather expensive - + - $50

SANYO EM-D9550. Turntable turns when off but not when cooking.

That's sounds pretty strange!

Since I don't have any service data on Sanyos, I'd have to speculate.

I would guess that one scenario that could cause it would be if the turntable were turned off via the control panel, but there was a switch or switch mount problem.

I would refer you to their support people:
