Vending machine issues

Refrigeration fan that turns on and off to keep unit cold, runs constantly. This is for the Koolatron Vending Machine fridge; model ec-23.

No compressor in EC-23. Constant fan noise is normal.

Only the fan at the compressor turns on and off with the compressor cycle. The evaporator fan runs steady to maintain air circulation and temperature balance and to affect evaporator defrost in the off cycle. Sometimes the condenser fan will run continuously to assist in the evaporation of condensed moisture from the evaporator drainage.

The Koolatron Vending Machine EC-23 does not have a compressor like a traditional refrigerator, it's a "thermoelectric" cooler, using the "Peltier" effect.

The effect is the result of DC electrical current passing through wire snaked inside a compound and sandwiched between two metal plates. Heat is drawn to one plate which causes the other plate to absorb heat (it feels cooler). The effect is limited partially by the ambient temperature, and as far as I know this model has no inside temperature control, it uses a it uses a huge aluminum heat sink plus fan on the back to remove heat from the warm side.

To use the machine means you'll have fan noise, and because I doubt the fan uses anything more than a "sleeve" bearing, over time the fan noise will grow as the bearing wears down. Eventually the fan will need to be maintained or replaced.

My evapaorator fan does not run on Genesis Vending maching at all? I am trying to figure it out, what can be wrong? Why it's not running? my compressor fan is running and cycle and turn off... (work fines), just my evaporator fan doesn't run?

  • Anonymous Oct 02, 2012

Check for voltage at the fan connection, I can't recall the voltage, but it should be listed on the fan itself. It there is voltage at the fan, then most likely the fan has failed, and will need replacement

Should fan run constant on indesit ban12fn fridge freezer?

It should shut off when it reaches the correct temperature. If you have the temp set to low it could cause it to continue to run or if there is an issue with the fridge that could also cause this issue. Keep in mind after a defrost it will take some time for everything to get back to the correct temp so it may run constant for a long time.

I purchase a koolatron CVF18 Vending Fridge I plug it in and neither the fan nor compressor came on but the power light on the power cord came on

Sounds like the timmer has not passed the defrost cycle, if you look near the compressor unit, you will see a box with wires going into it from compressor and up into the unit, you should see a small dial about 10-15mm diam, turn this dial clockwise, may need a screw driver, should work once turned, If you cant locate it near the compressor, have a look within the unit or ontop for the timer unit with the dial and tun it clockwise, if the unit operates, spray with a good quality lub spray and turn it fully for 5 revs. Should work fine once done....Russ

Compressor/unit runs constantly but does not cool.

is it keeping the inside contents cold and or frozen, if not possibly condenser coil needs cleaning, also if its in a very warm place and you have no problems other than that its just trying to keep things cool and has to run longer to do so

Compressor runs constantly, fridge cools, but not as cold as new

If unit is running constantly, and not nearly as cold as it used to be, most likely a freon leak. Possibly a partially frozen over evap too. If evap is mostly clear except for about 5% of it, most probably a freon leak. Changing controls will probably not fix anything. Need to look into this a little deeper.

Good Luck and hope this gets it done for you.

Koolatron Mini Fridge Overheating

Check the condensor fan behind the fridge which is designed to cool the compressor/gas line by blowing air over the condensor. When this fan motor seizes or stops running, the gas gets very hot and because it is skin cooled too, the outside of the fridge also gets very hot. You can overcome the problem temporarily by putting a standing fan behind the fridge, blowing onto the compressor and under the fridge untill you can have the problem rectified.
