Hi
There is a huge range of anti - virus software out there. The main decision is whether you want to pay for it or not.
If you want complete security, I would
recommend you read
this guide. It gives you the run down of the best ways to fight infection.
If you want something lightweight then I would go with
avast antivirus. The
free version provides anti virus, anti
spyware and anti
Rootkit. With this installed you can pretty much forget about security problems. And it's free!
However, if you want the best there is I'd go for
NOD32 - it frequently scores as the best product.
If you're looking for something that should work seamlessly with your operating system with a fantastic user interface then
Windows Live Onecare along with
Windows Defender might be for you, though I can't promise them being lightweight on the system resources.
This site provides a run down of all the best free scanners for every type of infection. Even if you choose to pay for something I'd
recommend using the Trojan and
Rootkit scanners that are suggested there - just yesterday they allowed me to locate and destroy a
Rootkit that got past my protection.
Hope this is
helpful to your decision.
