SOURCE: 3 red blinks after power on

3 BLINKS SHOULD mean lamp door not properly closed.

If you look carefully at the lamp door --is it warped? Look at it edgewise--if it is bowed at all it is the problem.

Heat gets it from the lamp.

Here is a way to prove this for yourself--the door has a plastic peg on the back--when it is in place the peg engages a small lever--usually blue in color and you can see it with the door removed.

It is there to prevent the set from being operated with the door removed.

What I suggest you do is with the door removed engage the lever with something NOT METAL a plastic piece or even a match stick--with the lever pushed forward (which is what the peg should do) turn the set on.

If it comes on and works you just need to replace the door--very common on this set.

Let me know if the set works this way--DO NOT LOOK AT THE LAMP WITH THE DOOR REMOVED AS IT CAN DAMAGE YOUR EYES.

IF the set works this way confirm the model number to me--Usually there are at least 3 sellers on EBAY selling OEM doors for this set at about 20 including shipping--Sony will have them for less but often are out of stock because this is a common problem.

If this helped you, rate this solution as I do this here for free.

SOURCE: Sony Grand Wega KDF-50E2000 3 red blinks

3 blinks is the lamp door error code. Try jumpering the door switch. These switches are notorious for going bad.

I have a 55" sony

According to the manual (you can see it here) page 122 that describes 3 red flashing lights:

"The lamp cover is not attached securely. When you secure the lamp cover, the POWER / STANDBY light flashes in red and the LCD projection TV enters the standby mode (see page22)"

Page 22 says:

"... if the POWER / STANDBY light flashes continuously, this may indicate the display unit needs servicing..."

Most DLP displays make use of a "color wheel". These small motors spin at many thousands of RPM. They often begin to make scratching sounds when they are beginning to fail. Some manufacturers make it difficult to change yourself - and others make it pretty easy.

I hope this was at least a good starting point for you & good luck. Please rate my reply. Thank you.

Sony Wega KDF-55E2000 won't turn on

A 5 blink code is a lamp power supply problem, but I would try a new lamp. I'd say about 90% of the time that fixes the problem.Get an ORIGINAL Sony lamp as the aftermarket replacements are ****. If you replace the lamp and still have the problem, you will need to have the lamp power supply/lamp ballast replaced

Dead sony

The $1200 was for the lcd engine not the lamp. You should change the lamp. The buzz is the power supply trying to light the lamp.
