Paper Tray Settings

I have sorted my paper trays as follows:

  • Tray 1 - A4 Plain
  • Tray 2 - A4 Colour (Fax Paper)
  • Tray 3 - A4 Letterhead
  • Tray 4 - A3 Plain
I have also changed the settings so that when a particular tray finished (i.e. Tray 1 has run out of A4 Plain), the machine should stop and say that the tray is out of paper. However , my problem is, when the A4 Plain paper runs out, it does not stop printing. The paper just automatically changes to letterhead (which I don't want it to do).

You have Auto Tray Switching acticated (ATS). Unless you specify each tray/paper with different settings it will switch.

Go in to the utility menu and you can find this in the paper tray settings area I believe.

You can turn this off completely to avoid this in the future.

If you look around you can even just tweak the settings for this, but in your case i would just shut it off.

CAUTION: Do not load any paper above the solid red lines on the sides of the tray. Do not use torn, wrinkled, perforated, wet, or folded paper. Make sure to remove all paper clips and staples before loading the paper. Figure 3: Stack label height

Load specialty paper Follow these steps to load specialty paper such as card stock, envelopes, photo paper, or labels.
Before you proceed, verify that your printer supports the specialty paper on which you are attempting to print by viewing the product specifications . If the size, type, or weight of the paper is not available, the printer does not support printing it. Also note the tray loading capacity for the type of paper on which you are attempting to print.

How to make default tray 2 in HP Laserjet p3005n printer

HP printers will default to the highest numbered tray that contains plain letter paper. So on a standard 3005 Tray 2 is the default unless you have the paper type set for something other than plain letter. If you have an additional tray, then Tray 3 would become the default tray if it is set to plain paper. In this case, you would set tray 3 to either bond or letterhead so that the printer would only grab from that tray if you request either tray 3 be used or create a job that calls for that type of paper.

If this does not sort it out, post back again with a complete description of the printer including number of trays, what is loaded in the trays and how they are set for both paper size and paper type. This information can be found by printing a configuration page. This is done by pressing the arrow key on the control panel until display reads information, press checkmark (green button) then use down arrow until Configuration page is displayed and then press checkmark again. Page will print that shows all the settings for the printer.

I need to change our Canon IR2016 from A4 to A3, Also I need to activate 1 to double sided copies. I am looking on line for the user manual for the IR2016 but can't find

ir2016 is allready A3 size copier.you can change tray setting.pull out tray from machine and then set A3 paper on it according to paper you must change blue lever position from A4 to A3.then close your tray.now you can work with A3 size paper
for double side copying you must be installed a "duplex unit" which is not come with standard machine. It is an optional unit.after that you can make double sided copying.

Hello Uncle123,
I don't have a user manual at my fingers, but you can go into "additional functions". I don't recall if it is within the"common settings" tab or "copy settings" but you can designate any paper tray to be "unique". For example you can designate tray 2 as "colored paper, or recycled paper" .In which case, if you are feeding from tray 1 and it runs out the copier now knows that tray 2 has a type of paper that is different than the current run.Even if the paper size is the same. I hope this helps. Take care. ..............................spinal.........................
