GE Front Load Rips Clothes

We have a GE Front Load we purchased about 13 months ago. It occasionally and aparrently randomly rips clothes. A tech came before the warranty expired, after he left it stopped for a while, but has started again. To our knowledge he did mnot replace anything or adjust anything while he was here. Now as the warrantee lapsed it has begun again. Is there a seal or gasket which allows the clothes to catch the frame under the seal or the drum? Can it be replaced? If this is not the problem, please help!Any suggestions would be appreciated.

yes, I have the same issue and we have looked and looked inside to see if there is something catching on the clothes. I have washed our jeans separately because I thought it could have been the zipper or the weight of them, Now I am hooking my bras and checking all other zippers. My husband is wondering if it could be when he unhooked the pins after delivery, if that had something to do with it? We are ready to send the washer back!!!!!

Used for 2.5 years with no problems. Now we have had 4-5 articles severly damaged. GE offers no help. Clothes are getting caught on something or perhaps inside the seal.I feel there is a design flaw.

We have the same issues. Just replaced the boot seal thing that ripped, thought that might have been the issue. But just happened again. Some of my ripped clothes look like they are melting and then ripping. Read on another site to complain to the BBB and the attorney general to help with a recall. I am ready to send my washer back tooo!!!

Check the inside of the drum. Chances are, there is a sharp object pointing out that is doing this.

Front load GE wcvh6260hww gasket is ripped Where do i get a new one and how do i replace?

I have not replaced a gasket myself (had warranty service) but when it was complete, I made sure to tilt the washer slightly backwards so the clothes did not get into the gasket so easily. After two replacements in the first three months, we have not had to replace for more than two years. Hope this helps when you get the new one in.

GE Adora Frontload Washer shredding clothes

We were having the same problems with ripped clothing and longer cycles. Our rubber seal by the door has ripped twice now causing massive amounts of water to run out. I learned through other threads that many people are having these problems and was told that zipping up zippers and turning jackets and clothing with big heavy stuff on them in side out to protect from ripping the clothing and the rubber seal. I removed the panel on the front bottom of the machince and there is a small gray cover that housed the coin trap. Mine was clogged and once I cleared that out, my cycle times got better. I hope this was somewhat helpful. We definitely won't be purchasing another GE front loader!!

GE top load Washer ripping clothes

Solution!
GE has replaced the "boot" (the large rubber gasket at the opening of the washer) on my washer. This has fixed the problem!

Although the majority of people I spoke with at GE did not know about this, eventually I got a repair technician out here who spoke with one of the engineers. The engineer said that there was a problem with the boot causing clothing to rip. The new boot we have on our washer covers a ring of plastic just on the outside of the metal drum (the plastic rim remains stationary while the metal drum spins - this is the cause of the ripped clothing) - the old boot left this plastic ring exposed. Our washer was only 8 months old - so even if your washer is new, if your clothing is being ripped, insist that the boot be replaced for an updated version.

Good luck!
