Sounds like the smell of fruit that has gone bad. There is no odor per se that a refrigerator or freezer "manufactures".......Freon is sealed and is odorless--that's the only kind of fluid/chemical that a fridge condensor circulates. Look for some food that has gone "south" first.

There is and odor that permeates the ice, freezer, and fridge. It makes the ice taste funny.

This could be because of other stuff in the fridge. Meat usually gives a weird odor and taste when its in the fridge with something else.

Bad tasting ice/water/food

Have you put a few boxes of baking soda in the fridge to absorb the pungent odors? Do that.

We have a terrible odor from fridge side. Cleaned it 3 times..found nothing and odor persists Any suggestion? No odors when doors are closed

What does it smell like? Burnt plastic , mold , rotten food? Check gaskets and temp in fridge, food could be spoiling. It is tough to get serious odors out of fridges. Bleach, vinegar are good for killing odors. Check manufactures recommendations.

There is a bad odor coming out of the fridge when you open the door, everything else works fine.

Is it a food odor or metallic? Try crushing up some charcoal into a powder and place in the fridge in an open dish.

I have an oder in my fridge and freezer. no spoilage in there. both the fridge and freezer has an odor and gets into all the food. cleaned it out, shut it off for a day and still i have it. would would...

ok.its a very common issue.just tie a handful of baking soda in a soft cloth and keep such1 or 2 pads in both the freezer and fridge section.this will absorb all the bad odor within a day or two.once the odor is gone throw the pas away.repeat this once in three months to prevent the bad odor from coming again.

This will help. Thanks please keep updated.please do rate the solution positively .thank you for using fixya

Fridge odor

There are a couple of methods to help remove odors from a fridge. The first is a cookie sheet with baking soda spread across it left in the fridge for several days. The other is something called Activated Carbon. Most stores sell it as a carbon odor filter and it is pretty cheap. It actually works better then the baking soda so I recommend you pick some up and just leave it inside the fridge. You can also put this behind your fridge or wherever you have foul odors. Hope this helps.

Probably getting a new Fridge-mother doesn't want to continue to deal with repairs. Thanks anyway.
