I just changed my password and user name to be able to get into my Netgear settings and I have some disabilities so I quickly forgot my password so when I went to try it wont let me in the initial type in your user name and passord. I tried admin and password to hopefully see if it would reset but it wouldnt?
Re: I just changed my password and user name to be able...

All netgear routers have the same default user names and passwords, so unless you have changed it you should still be able to use the default one set by the manufacture.
IP address: 192.168.1.1
User name: admin
password: password
This is the default info for netgear.
If you are looking for your wireless password it will be found in wireless settings of the router on the admin page for your router.
To RESET the Netgear, power up the Netgear then press andhold the RESET button at the back of the router until all the LEDs flash.Connect a LAN cable from the Netgear to the LAN port on yourcomputer, open a browser and enter the Netgear configuration URL - http://192.168.0.1 The default login = admin The default PW = passwordYou can now change the default admin password and configurethe wireless settings. Go to the wireless configuration and set up the SSID and WPA or WPA2encryption. Apply these settings to the wireless card in your laptop/computer. If you have changed the default password, you need to reset the router to the factory settings to get in with the default user and password (user admin and password as password, or if that doesn't work try 1234). Note that you will lose the ISP settings and wireless settings when you reset the router.
Here's a video on how to reset the router to the factory default settings: http://kbserver.netgear.com/media/flash/training/Troubleshooting/NG_WGR614V9Router_TS_LostPassword.html
Which password do you mean? The wifi passowrd or the admin password?
The admin password is likely to be password (if it hasn't been changed) but the Wifi password you will only be able to see if you can access the router.
Easiest way is to use an ethernet cable between the router and the computer. Open up the netgear admin page (admin & password), then on the left hand side click on Set-up and then select wireless settings. Your wifi password will either be written on the next page or you will see four boxes of numbers with a blue spot against one of them. That one is your passowrd.
hey of you are just new try to type on the user name "admin" then in the password "admin"
or "administrator" then also in the password "administrator" if you dont change it yet. but if you alrady change it you have to manual reset it it you forgot your password.hope it works.
Yes you can disable the wireless security from the router follow this;
Open up a web browser and type http://192.168.0.1. If prompted for a username and password the defaults are: User Name: admin Password: password Once in the setup utility go to the “Wireless” tab then on the wireless part you can disable the security of the router..
