Washing machine circular timer switch stops with load of wash and water inside during the first cycle; circular timer dial also stops moving clockwise. My guess is a defective motor/timer - are they all one unit?

If you are able to advance the timer and get the machine to run and finish the cycle, then yes the timer is your most likely culprit, and yes the timer motor and timer are all one piece.
However if it does not complete the cycle and you are unable to drain the water out, your problem could be with the lid switch assembly, not the timer. Check the switch by looking for a tab on the right side of the lid that would (when the lid is closed) contact the switch mounted under the top of the cabinet. you should hear an audible click when the switch is depressed.
If you find it is the switch, please let me know and I will give you instructions on how to replace it.
Good luck!

Maytag centennial washer not working properly in Normal cycle. After it shuts off there is still water in the bottom of the tub. I can move the dial to another setting such as Casual cycle or Heavy Duty...

We have the same problem. The Normal cycle still works, but after the final spin cycle, water is again added (1 gal est.) and the machine stops. Problem occurred after washing an old 25 x 30 inch rug which partially disentegrated when washed. We were seeing particles of the rug in subsequent wash cycles during drain into laundry tub. Don't know if something is plugged in the washer or if it is something else. In another load after the rug wash, the top of the washer was lifted during the wash cycle. The water problem occurred immediately after lifting the lid as the wash load went through remaining cycles. Maybe this affected the timer? Maytag customer service suggested unplugging power cord to re-set timer. This didn't make any difference. We need a technician to tell us if this is a timer problem or something else?

I have a 15 yr old Whirlpool washer that has run great. During a cycle, it stopped full of water. I moved the dial around to different areas pushing it in and out and got a cyle to run long enough to pump...

Not always a Timer issue. could be stopping at the cold fill part of the cycle which is the 8 o clock position on the dial. This would be fault with the cold fill vavle.

Kenmore 300 washing machine does not leave rinse cycle

This sounds like a bad timer. If the machine is several years old, the timer could be in need of replacement.

If you are handy, you can replace this device yourself and you should be able to obtain the part from any local Sears parts store or from the internet.

If you are not familiar with this kind of work, it would be best to have a technician replace the timer.

Washer stopped at the drain cycle Model LSR8233JQ1

Could be either a bad lid switch or a bad water valve.
Set the timer dial to SPIN and turn the machine on.
If it spins the lid switch is OK. If it does not spin the lid switch must be replaced.
Next, set the timer dial on a wash cycle and set the water temperature knob to COLD water. If it fills, the lid switch is bad. If it does not fill the water valve is bad or the cold screen filter is clogged.
If the COLD does not fill, turn off the cold water faucet. Remove the cold water hose from the machine water valve and check for a clooged screen.
If it does not fill with COLD water and the screen is clear, replace the water valve.

WMA54 Hotpoint Aquarius drum does not turn during wash or spin

Start checking the lid switch, if this is stuck the machine wont start.

If the drum does not move at all, the motor, the motor control unit, the motor coupler, the control board may be faulty.

For more details you need to observe if machine is draining and pumping water inside during cycle, see: It doesn't spin

Timer stops at the end of wash cycle, won't began drain cycle

if it fills and agitates but stops at the drain/spin portion, it sounds like you have a problem with the lid switch. if it thinks the lid is opne, it will not drain or spin.

hiya
these machines will do this if the timer dial has been moved during a cycle, they have a memory chip on the main circuit board.

they also do this if the machine has a fault with the exception that they dont stop, the doorlock light flashes and the timer just keeps clicking.

try setting the timer to a dot on the settings then switching the power on, the doorlock light will flash a few times, turn off again select program then switch back on, machine should now be reset and work ok, if not then count the flashes of the doorlock light as this indicates a fault code.

hope this helps

Timer clicks arround and arround

My Belling integrated washing machine will not stop at the end of the cycle. My partner had accidently moved the dial during mid-cycle. We have tried to reset the machine by turning it off and then moving the dial around to the stop section of the dial. However when we turn it back on it waits for a while and then continues to click around with starting any cycle. Can anyone help? Thanks.

Asko w6221 front load washer stops after wash cycle

Do all of your cycles work when you turn them manually? If one cycle does not work when you turn the dial on it then it will be your timer (The dial assembly $100-up) If all your cycles work manually, then it could be your timer motor which is attached to your timer assembly. If you turn the dial pass the wash, on to the rinse, does the dial automaticly move (when finishng the rinse cycle)to the spin cycle? If so then your timer motor is ok. The only wires close to the bottom are the motor, but these should be high enough out of the way.

Washing Machine won't empty water during the cycle

does the timer advance by itself? if not the problem is your timer not advancing through the cycles. if timer does advance then being 14 1/2 years old it could be the motor. start the washer and mark the beggining where the timer starts. whatch it to see if it moves if not then you need to replace your timer
