Just set Windows Media to handle the file format you see in the appropriate directory when you open the device as a disk drive, copy it around or sync, then render to an appropriate format to burn to a CD, perhaps using Audacity or other mastering software to keep sound levels reasonably constant.

You cannot transfer from the player to the computer - sorry. The follwoing is the method you would use, but it won't work:
Try this - connect your mp3 player to computer --> double-click on My Computer --> double-click on the icon of the mp3 player --> double-click on the music folder --> drag and drop the music files to a folder/desktop of your own choosing

After i plugged it into the computer the only options i get are transfer files from windows media player and no action, what can i do to transfer the songs to the mp3

Select "No Action," to avoid accidentally setting up Auto-Sync (undesirable). Then open up Windows Media Player, and use the Sync tab to transfer the songs to your Sansa. It may sound crazy, but doing it in the way I suggest will allow you to sync songs manually instead of automatically. Auto-sync will add files that you do not want into your mp3 player. Manual sync allows you to choose which songs you add to the mp3 player.

Cant download music

The songs need to be formatted for a sansa. Use Windows Media Player 11. Don't use Rhapsody, too many problems.
Load a CD into your computer, on the Toolbar of WMP11 click rip, After all songs are ripped, hook up your Sansa to the computer via USB cable, Click Sync. WMP11 will not only sync the sansa it will sync the micro card also. You have your choice where you want to put the music. Drag and drop the music in the box to the left where you synced your sansa and at the bottom of the box click Sync. All music will be synced to your sansa or card which ever one you chose. Understand, when the sansa starts up, the card syncs with the sansa, you don't have to do anything. Try this and let me know how it works.
