I have a LN40A330J1D Flat screen Samsung TV. We turned it off Sunday and it has been dead ever since. No one can get it to come back on. I have changed batteries in the remote, tried repeatedly to press the "on" button on the TV, checked the power strip, unplugged it, and plugged it back in, etc. all to no avail. There is a small red blinking light near the on/off button. Its about 3 yrs old and not under warranty. Any suggestions? Thanks.

Sounds like a failed or at least failing power supply / power board inside the TV. Unfortunately this is a very difficult repair, and unless you are an electrician I would not recommend attempting it. You will need to contact a local TV repair person in your area. I am quite certain that is what it is, that is exactly what the blinking power light indicates. It is getting enough power through the power supply to light that little indicator light, but it can't power up the TV itself.

This is the most common problem with all LCD tv's unfortunately, and for whatever reason it is very common in Samsung models :(.

So sorry that I don't have better news but it is definitely a power issue internally.

Thanks
Tim

Dead pixel repair

Hi Tasha,
Unfortunately, repairs at the "pixel level" are not possible. The display is an "all or nothing" type of repair (I'm not talking about the back lights and support electronics - I'm *only* talking about the display screen). That means that the entire screen is replaced if there are to many dead pixels. (Most screens have dead pixels - manufacturers limit the number of dead pixels on a screen that can be assembled to a TV). If it the Quality Assurance people in the factory find a number of dead pixels that is less than a certain amount - it is "good" and ships. If it is more - it is scrapped.

Generally, your options are: live with it, replace the screen or buy a new TV.

Ihave just purchased a Samsung 46' LED TV and on starting it shows cable three instead of HDMI Satellite and then no picture... can you advise ? Always on a sunday morning !!!

Go to input on your samsung remote and scroll to the hdmi port on which you have your external device attached to. Select that port and see if you can get your satellite picture back. Your statement "Always on a Sunday mornig", does this mean that this is the only time this problem happens? Please send me the model number for this tv so that I can research this particular problem.

My Samsung 40" Flat Screen LCD TV clicks a bunch of times before turning on, especially when not used, ie...overnight.

The power supply capacitors are getting bad - 1000uf 10V- they need to be changed before they blow completely - dead set.

Samsung 40 no picture

If it is only 6 months old you probably still have a warranty. This is definitely a hardware issue, and unless you are comfortable taking your new TV apart, I would contact Samsung for repair.
