On the Proview 468 and possibly the PL-456s and the PZ-456if you look at the end of the VGA chord that you connect to the back of the computer right in between the two screws is a power connector for a 12 volt power supply this is for the 468 I hope this helps with your dilemma on how it gets power. If this happened after a storm, the monitor may have been subjected to a power surge, which unfortunately might have killed it.

If you have another monitor (or a friend who has one) try plugging that other monitor into your computer. If the second monitor works, yours will need to be replaced as the input was probably destroyed by the power surge.

If the second monitor also doesn't work, there may be a problem with your computer, most likely with the power supply (this is the part most often damaged by a power surge). You may want to have it examined by a professional computer repair person at that point.

Can you supply a picture of the connection on the back of the monitor? Try to make it high quality and put a scale, ruler or dime near the connector to give proper scale/size and I will research it for you.

**Caution. Hazardous voltages inside.
This could be a loose connector inside the monitor connecting the LCD panel. A careful check of these delicate connectors (open, reinsert the cable, close the connector) or remove and reconnect the plugs may fix it. White screen means there is no drive to the LCD panel AT ALL.

As a workaround, simply get yourself a switchmode power supply that has the spec's 19 V DC @ 3 Amps, now, carefully cut of the end of the "Old" Power Jack, and the end off the "New" power jack, and Join up the wires, usually the "Inner" one is Positive, +, and the "Outer", or shield, is Usually negative, -, If you have a meter this should be used to check, connections. Otherwise just ensure you are correct. That should get you going, even if you cannot find an original, in fact, you may even find, that the PSU, you get has "Multi-way" changeable ends.

Any monitor will work with any computer provided the correct graphics card driver is installed. When you install Vista and you do not install the graphics driver, Windows will default to Generic VGA driver and you will not get the best resolution that the monitor can display.

You do NOT need a driver. Your monitor is broken. The high voltage power supply that provides power to light the CCFL cold cathode fluorescent lights is broken. The most common problem is that the 470uF 25V capacitors on the power supply circuit board are bad. Bad Caps have a swollen and sometimes leaky top. There are 6 capacitors that cost about 50 cents apiece from www.partsexpress.com . Buy high temperature replacement capacitors rated at 105C. If you can't de-solder and resolder have some 14 year old kid do it for you.
