How many ounces or quarts of oil do you put in the engine and what kind when changing the oil?

BRIGGS & STRATTON ENGINES:
For temperatures above 40? F use an SAE30W oil. Using multigrade oil may increase oil consumption. Using SAE 30W oil below 40? F will result in hard starting and possible engine
bore damage. For temperatures below 40 ? F use
an SAE10W-30 or SAE5W-30 oil. Oil capacity for the 6 H.P. engine is approximately 5/8 quart (20 ounces; 0.6 liter).
Refer to Briggs & Stratton engine owner's manual for additional
information.

Briggs & Stratton engines typically take 48 ounces of SAE 30 oil.
Kohler engines typically take 64 ounces (2 quarts) of 10w30 oil.
Always refer to the dipstick to ensure proper amount is added and do not over fill.

after one quart-- check every 8 ounces--two quarts is what it should take if you got all the oil out

Most persons use a 50:1 mixture of gas to oil.
That means put one ounce of oil into a quart and a half of gas.
Or two ounces into 3 quarts of gasoline.
Or, a little over two ounces into a gallon of gasoline.

Nothing special, just drain the oil, change the filter, add three quarts of oil. You do know where the oil drain is on the frame just below the transmission behind the exhaust pipes. The primary holds 36-44 ounces, and the transmission holds 20-24 ounces of oil.

The engine takes three quarts of oil with a filter change. Now, always check the oil after filling. The dipstick has two marks on it. The upper mark is "FULL HOT" and the lower mark is "FULL COLD". Do not overfill.

The transmission holds 20-24 ounces of transmission lube. It too has a dipstick on it.

The primary holds 36-42 ounces of oil. Do not overfill this either because too much oil will make your clutch seem like it's dragging. You will not be able to find neutral with the engine running.

Use 10W30 weight oil. The capacity is 1.5 Quarts (48 ounces) with filter change. I highly recommend you use 100% synthetic oil in an air cooled engine. Change the oil and filter every 50 hours of use.

The oil pan is on the bottom of the transmission on your Dyna Wide Glide. To change the gasket start by draining the engine oil and transmission lubricant by removing both plugs on the bottom. Once drained, disconnect the hoses going to the oil pan. Remove oil fill cap, remove two screws and remove the oil spout, pull up on the dip stick cover to remove it. Now, remove the allen head bolts and remove the oil pan. Replace gasket and all bolts. Torque all bolts to 7-9 foot pounds. Refill with oil. Transmission take 20-24 ounces of transmission lube and the oil tank takes 2 quarts 14 ounces of oil if you did not replace the oil filter. Since the oil filter is still full of oil, if you put the full three quarts of oil in the tank, the oil cap will blow off when the oil gets hot as it's overfilled. Good luck

Your looking at 2.8qts for the engine add another 1/2 quart or so for the filter. Always put a little oil in and then add till full. Use the amounts identified as a guide to how much oil to have on hand. You primary may use 22 - 28 ounces, and your tranny a little less than a quart. so have at least 5 quarts available for a complete fluid change (and filter) and you should be good to go! Approximately 40 ounces. Put in a full quart first, then add about 1/4 of the second quart and start checking the dipstick until you are at the full mark. Each time you add more, let it run down into the engine for a minute or so before checking or you will get a false reading. If your engine has an oil filter and you changed it, figure about 2 extra ounces for the filter
