When I receive an email with an attachment (Word or Excel) and try to print the attachment, it goes through a spooling process and just sits. I have not figured out how or what process I need to print attachments. I record master gardener volunteer hours and many of them are received as attachments. Does anyone have a suggestion to solve this problem, I'm ready to take the printer back to the salesman. Thanks for any help you can give me. [email protected]

If this is a Hewlett Packard printer (and you did specify an Officejet pro 8000), the answer may be an all too common one. Smart Web Printing (which I never took the time to fully figure out) is likely installed and enabled. If you don't use the smart web printing function, (or don't even know what the heck it is) uninstall it from Add/Remove software or Programs and Features (depending on your OS) or use the software driver installation CD to remove the feature. Once removed, I think you should see that all web based printing that used to either disappear or not come out as expected, will again print exactly the way it used to before you installed the driver for the printer.

The spooling process is a natural part of printing files. Usually, if you are sending a number of files to a printer, or, if the file size is large, the spooling time will take longer. Unfortunately, this is unavoidable, unless, you reduce the size of the file(s) first.

The "spooling" process is the transmitting of information to the printer. When there is a lot of information to be sent, the time it takes to print will be longer.

Hope this helps. :)

Try to Restore Microsoft Excel to Its Default Spreadsheet ,
Open Microsoft Excel.

Navigate to the Help menu and open the "Detect and Repair" function. The Detect and Repair dialog will appear. If you want to restore your shortcuts at this time, check the appropriate icon
Click "Start." Wait for a short period while Office deletes all of the settings on all of the programs in the suite and restores it to its original installed state. This will apply the settings to Word, PowerPoint and Excel, and any other Office programs you have installed

A quick solution could be to copy the whole email and paste it into Word, format at leisure and print from there.

Actually, I'm not sure you are trying to print an "email": this behaviour is typical rather of Microsoft Excel. If this is the case, you need to setup the print area from the File menu of the opened attachment.

It takes forever to print out my documents - it receives it, then processes it, then 10 minutes later - shoots out the doc.

Hi,
Try deleting spooled print jobs,
Windows method.
1. On the taskbar, click Start, type run in the search box,hit enter.

2. Enter the following in the run box:
net stop spooler (and hit enter)

3. Delete all files in the following folder:
C:\Windows\System32\Spool\Printers

4. Once the spool files are deleted, start the spooler again:

Start, click run, enter the following below.
net start spooler

as in Net(space)start(space)spooler

Same on a Mac, need to be in terminal window.
/Applications/Utilities/Terminal.app

Process is the same in here.

I hope this helps
