My toshiba satelite will not connect to a wireless network,it finds it and connects then say it is limited but never asks for a password

you can try a system restore to a point when the adapter functioned correctly....you can also try re-installing the drivers..if there is an additional utility controlling the wireless other than windows...have it switch over to windows...for xp users you can try using zero configuration...

How to turn on wireless switch on a Toshiba 5205-S505?

First - Determine if your Toshiba Satellite has built-in Wi-Fi. Open the Start menu in the lower left corner of the desktop. Choose "Control Panel" and select "Performance and Maintenance." Click on the "System" icon and click on the "Hardware" tab in the System Properties window. Click on the "Device Manager" button. Click on the plus sign next to "Network adapters." Look for a device that has "Wireless" or "WLAN" in the name. If you see this device listed, then you have built-in wireless.

Next - Turn on the wireless by holding down the "Fn" key on the keyboard and then pressing "F8" at the top of the keyboard. Press this combination until the window indicates that Wi-Fi is on. Some Toshiba notebooks have a switch on the front left side of the laptop that will turn the Wi-Fi on. Many Toshiba Satellites have an LED indicator light on the right front edge of the notebook that will turn on when the Wi-Fi is on.

Finally - Click on the Start menu in the lower left corner of the desktop. Select "My Network Places" and click on "View network connections" in the menu on the left side of the window. Double click on the "Wireless Network Connection" icon. This will open a window that lists available wireless networks. Click on the name of the network you wish to connect to and click on the "Connect" button at the bottom. Type in the password if required and connect to to the network. Open a web browser to test the connection.

Where to connect the black and white wires from the lcd screen t

the black and white wires are most likely the antenna for the wireless networking card. When you locate the card you will see two small round plugs. Don't think it matters which one goes where.

I really hope this link helps. Like i said i'm pretty sure these are the wires for your wireless antenna.
