Camera will not turn off/and no buttons are working...

I have had two of these cameras for about a year now. One is working fine, however the second is not turning off. When I pull the battery and power the camera back up the Everio screen loads then it goes straight to a black screen. I can see there is power going to the mini LCD screen but nothing is displayed. Then when I try and power down the camera does not turn off. I have to pull the battery to get it to shut down. The light is also stuck on and I am unable to connect it to my computer to offload any videos I ahve currently stored.

Things I have tried, I have tested the camera using another battery, I have ran the camera with no batter using only the charger cord. I have connected it to my computer and it will not prompt to connect the divice. If anyone has any ideas please let me know, the files I have on this camera are important to some of the kids at the school I work at. They are needed of the end of scool projects the students are working on.

That is the craziest thing ever...

I let it sat like you said and saw, out of the corner of my eye about an hour or so later the screen doing something. Sure enough I turned it off and back on and it asked to recover and repair and now it is back up and running. Thanks so much for the help...

Did you try plugging it into your computer using your USB and then hitting power - sometimes this recharges the camera. Make sure you have new batteries in the camera when you do this and hold down the on button while you do it. If that doesn't work, than I think it's time to go somewhere to get it fixed or for a new camera. Good luck

Sony DSC-P73 auto power off in picture mode

Hello!

You may try using any another compatible Battery pack in the Camera to ensure if the issue is not causing due to the Battery. Actually, when the Camera is switched to the "Picture or Camera" mode then the power consumption increases spontaneously. So, if the Batter is not holding sufficient charge to cater the power need of the Camera in the Camera mode then it'll automatically turn off. However, if the issue persists with spare Battery also then you may try resetting the Camera to the original factory settings by pressing and holding the Reset button for 30 seconds. Otherwise, it's required to get the Camera to resolve the hardware issues.

Camera stopped taking pictures

Same thing happened to me a while ago. I was in a panic. I turned it on and off several times...no change. Finally, I turned the camera to the off position, took the battery out of the camera for about 30 seconds and put it back in again and it worked fine. No problem since.

It won't turn on! I charge it, and the camera is no more than a year old, and yet it wont turn on. However, when it's on it's base, it can connect to my computer and turn on fine! Is it the battery?! Why...

Mine won't turn on...unless I hit the red button, then the menu button, then repeat...the red, then the menu. When the menu comes up, it wants to reset the date/time etc. I just ignore that and hit the menu button once more and it's ready to shoot. Pain in the you know what.
No more Casio cameras.

Re-Sony DSCT-1

Disconnect, and then, after one minute, reconnect all power
sources and turn on the camera. If this does not work, press the
RESET button on the lower side of the control button using a
fine-tipped object, then turn on the power again. (All the
settings including date and time are cleared.)

If still does not resolve the issue, Turn off the camera, remove the battery pack. Allow the camera to remain without power for 30 seconds. Reinsert the the battery pack. Turn on the camera.

The Flash on my camera won't work

When taking pictures, you must really be allowing time for the camera's flash to be charged
before you could take another picture so that camera will have enough time to rest and it
could function normally.
But if the camera was dropped, then it's really causing those kinds of issues like flash will not work properly.

You could still try these steps below:

First, do the POWER RESET:
- Turn off camera
- Remove batteries for a minute
- Reload batteries
- Turn on camera

Second, do the MASTER RESET
- Be in AUTO mode
- Press on MENU button
- Press on the right button until you see SETUP 2
- Scroll down until you see RESET
- Press the right button to pick up on YES or NO
- Press on OK/MENU button for changes to be saved
- Turn off camera for a few seconds so that settings will be refreshed

Turn it on and take a picture.
When you want to have just the AUTO FLASH.

- Rotate the mode dial to PROGRAM
- Press the LEFT/FLASH button until you've seen the
LIGHTNING icon with the Letter A on the leftmost part of the screen
- Try to take a picture by pressing and holding the shutter button
halfway first for 3-5 seconds and then press it all the way down
